I like the OP. Finally a girl gamer with a sense of humour and "who cares its a video game" attitude

You'd refuse to buy the game over *this* ?

Sucks to be you then I guess, my god some people really know how to blow things out of proportion.

Hilarious.

You don't seem to care about opinions, parading around saying "STFU" makes you look like this.

The boobs stay. That's what it will be. They aren't going to change something that, um...important, this late in development.

*IF* a dev confirms that there are no plans to change the female body shape to something more realistic, that's just one more reason for me to wait until a toolset is released before buying this game, or else waiting a year or two for it to drop significantly in price, or (gasp) not buy it at all.  I've already seen plenty of warnings that this isn't the type of game I'd like anymore, that would just be a small but significant sign that I'm right.

So Beth's jubblies would be the straw that broke the camel's back? Come on. <_<

Bioware isn't meant to be an agent for social change. We can encourage this, and they have tackled some pretty meaty content, but they are under no such obligation.

I think the same sex thread, or marketing games for adults and not kids, are much more important issues.

I think it should be not about size, but about the portrayal of size. If breasts are larger, they are more often than not sagging slightly. It's the defying gravity part that gets me.

If we're talking about Bethany, she's wearing a low-cut bodice type of garment. They push breasts up. It's realistic.

There will be no toolset for DA2. I distinctly recall that news from a few weeks ago.
Which is quite the worry, for my part. I enjoy Dragon Age: Origins as much as I do thanks to certain mods and alterations.

Are women only allowed to be heroric leads in a story if they're of a althetic body type? why can't we just accept women aren't all the same?

The essence of this statement is true. The irony is that the main concern for us is that most or all female characters will be thus endowed, rendering them...the same. See the screenshot of Bethany and mom for further info.

Now, I 'm certain nobody in this thread has some kind of deluded moral objection to large breasts. That's just silly with a capital S.
Neither do I think anyone has meant to say anything hurtful to the OP. While our bodies are fundamentally the same, we're all different. And I don't see how anyone has the right to make snide remarks regarding someone elses.
See, the issue isn't that we "hate" a certain body type.
The issue is that we hate the thought of a certain body type being displayed for nothing but titillation in a context which is supposed to be mature and credible.

I personally would love to see the use of different character models with game companions at least. I understand that it is easier to use the base gender models when developing a game, especially an RPG, but just look a Wynne... she really does look mighty fine for her age, base female model and all... Hell, if I look that good when I'm granny age, I will definitely be heading down to Cougar town to rustle up some men

It would be cool to see natural body types implemented, but when it comes down to it, for entertainment purposes most people want to see an "ideal" body type on screen. They call it eye candy for a reason.

When the Lineage 2 open beta started, I made a dark elf female, ran around for a few minutes, and uninstalled the game.  I was grossed out by being forced to look at my character's thong while playing.  Seriously, an issue that seems small to you can be completely immersion breaking and insulting to someone else.

I'm not asking for social change, I'm asking to play a game where I don't feel like an idiot when I look at my character.  And I do not play males in RPGs, so if I have to skip DA2 because I want to take my character seriously and have some dignity, I guess that's what I'll have to do.

As I said before, I just don't want to play a character who looks foolish or grotesque, especially when I know that the male characters don't look equally as foolish.  Would you really have no complaints if Male Hawke looked like a Rob Liefield drawing???  Really?

Wow, aren't you full of it. You know as well as I do that this topic has been done to death, at about page 10. Now it's been going in circles for the last 6 hours. I never told anyone to stfu, please show me where I said that. It's my opinion that this is blown out of proportion and obviously is different from yours, how is that trolling? You're actually the one trolling right now.

Hypocrite, but then again that looks to be a fairly common thing amongst many posters in this topic.

The female models are the equivalent of MaleHawke having a huge beer gut yet still being able to run and jump around and be an expert swordsman.

Large boobs are fine but give us a physique that can carry them.

This and, of course, that almost every argument put forward here for overly large breasts being standardised in game, as the norm, the status quo and of no problem being null arguments.

I do agree that if something looks really really stupid I won't play the game. I don't play lots of jrpgs because of the horrible 12yo kids with blue hair.

I just think it's funny that some people have the same reaction to big boobs that I do to a completely different art style. They're just boobs.

Most likely, a friendly stfu from Priestly/woo and a lock ../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png

You're essentially saying that Priestly / Woo will tell the complainers to "stfu", just as you want.

Your behavior in the past pages was nothing but "GIVE IT A REST", "YOU WOULDN'T BUY THE GAME? HILARIOUS" and such. That isn't an opinion, that's just not caring for the discussion itself.

The last I saw was Mike Laidlaw's statement that there are no current plans to release the updated toolset, but it's something they're willing to look at for the future.  Which is a fancy way of saying no, but there was at least some hope of their minds changing eventually.  If they've said that it will never ever happen, that's news to me, and very upsetting.

On the subject of different body types:  I am a woman with..."ample" assets, and I love seeing women like Christina Hendricks on television.  What I object to in terms of this game is the unrealistically skinny body with the gigantic breasts magically attached to it.  It's ridiculous and unattractive, I'd much rather see a thicker, more natural looking body if the game really wanted to show off a different body type.  I'd prefer a more athletic build for Lady Hawke as a form of wish fulfillment, personally.  I'm never getting a breast reduction, and I'm not very tall, so playing a tall, athletic character in games is something I enjoy doing.  The current female body in DA2 is not anything I'd want to be associated with.

Why is everyone fixated on Bethany's boobs anyway when in other screenshots

Image IPB

show a female warrior with a smaller chest size, is it not possible that in DA women have different size bosoms and body types?

That's not small at all. It's the same size as both Mama Hawke and Bethany.

It's a bad angle, really. I've seen the model on the stream and it's just as huge.

It's really amusing that the concept art of the 4 races talked about exploring different beauty standards, since we are getting Western hourglass shape taken to an extreme for humans. That's not different, that's the same old crap.

Indeed! They're huge! Like she's hiding two 3-kilogram chickens in her dress. PETA will be enraged.

I'm more concerned about Bethany's giraffe-like neck (even worse than FemShep) than her boobies, actually.

But Aveline (the pic) actually has well defined musculature/muscle tone. Whereas FemHawke seems to be a stick figure with too massive circles at chest height in comparison.
