I like all the Mass Effect aliens. I've been really impressed with how well they're all designed and how much thought has been put into them. If I had to choose from the "important species" I'd go with the Asari for their philosophy and the Turian's for their design and military skill.

That being said, I like the amusing species like the Elcor, Volus and Hanar. I'm kind of hoping that one of those will be a companion in ME3. It could happen. Every character doesn't have to be "badass" and "tainted" to be cool. Though it does help...

right??? thought the same myself a few times.  Also thought it would be pretty cool if there was a male quarian squadmate too.  Maybe a possible love interest?  Would be interesting to see how that worked outImage IPB

Hmmm... I just don't like humans that much. But if I had to pick here's my list:
1:Asari - they can remember things that even most accurate of literature forgets.
2:Quarians - they remind me of gypsies, but not the modern day gypsies but during medieval times.
3:Elcor - all the elcor I've met have been very polite.
4:Turians - (it was a tight one between them and elcor by the way, but I don't like voilence so...) they are a lot like Russian and Japanese people combined. I love Japan and respect Russia, so it's all good.
5:Geth/Rachni - I'd like to see the geth work alongside Quarians, no against them. I saddens me that they fight. I'd like the Rachni to be allowed to live. The one thing I really hate about krogans and the rest of the species who decided to wipe the rachni out.
7:The rest. Don't much like humans, so they're at the bottom with the vorcha, the varren and batarians.

i agree.  It is funny how polite and nice all the elcor are to you and alot of the rest of the aliens can kind of have an attitude problem sometimes.  I've wanted to smack a few asaris ( like the ones that sells the maps on Ilium) for some of their comments.  Lol, i know its just a game but they are so snotty sometimes

I like all the species, but Turians, Geth, Krogans and Quarians are the ones I find most interesting. My favourite is probably the Turians. I find the Quarian's customs interesting, but their treatment of the Geth is not one of my favourite points about them.
I think the Asari just seem like a Sci-fi nerds dream species tbh...though they actually have some of the best characters in the game, they just seem from overview to be a species of ****s, but I appreciate the fact they are quite a interesting species.

I'd have to say the Quarians.

Most people seem to dislike them because of their history, but they truly reflect upon human society more than any other species. The courses of action that they took seem like something us humans would do as well. I sympathize with them AND the Geth. Both species were wrong at a certain point in time, but I believe that the Quarians are a good species. Too many people judge them because of what their government decided to do to the Geth, and believe that HURR ALL QUARIANS ARE EVIL WANT TO CAUSE GENOCIDE MEAN MEAN MEAN.

Turians are a close second.

I don't judge every Quarian based on the actions a government from 300years ago, but it annoys me that they try to defend their treatment of the geth-talk to Tali in ME1. Once again I know she isn't a quarian representative, but most Quarians, besides Zael Koris Vas Qwib Qwib, seem to have a similar sor of mindset.
But I agree the Quarian's are a "good" species, very selfless.

You have to keep in mind that the new generation of Quarians are being told by their leaders and their history books that the Geth are evil. It is effectively cultural brainwashing.

Think of a child that was raised knowing nothing more than political propaganda and lies his entire life. He or she would adhere to what they heard and try to defend their beliefs. My hope is that in ME3 I can make the Quarians see otherwise.

Also, I believe most of their anger comes from how the council outright refused to help them in any way whatsoever. This was stupid as it came to bite them in the ass as well. Not allowing the Quarians to settle down on habitable planets is just rubbing salt on a wound, and resulted with the deterioration of their immune system. If anyone committed/is committing genocide, it's the council.

I agree, but the council are useless. They constantly refused to help humanity when they were and weren't on the council, they refused to to help the Batarians, they still refuse the Volus a seat, and they neutered a whole species. All in all, I'm not suprised that instead of solving the problem, they ignored it. Pretty much everybody can agree the council are at least partly responsible for the situation.

I do agree on the propaganda part, but you would still except more Quarians who realized they wronged the geth.  Your childhood doesn't define your beliefs as an adult, however I accept it has a large impact.

Now that I think about it, this is true. It's strange that we don't see more Quarians who look at both sides of the argument, especially since they are seem intelligent than most species. As I said, we will hopefully have an option to make them see a different point of view in ME3. I'd love to have a heated discussion with Tali on this.

I'm a Krogan fan all the way.

List of favorite species:

Krogan

Asari

Turians

Volus

Elcor

(I haven't played ME2 yet, but I've seen the races, and I don't like em too much.)

Turians, their appearance is great IMO. Their predator (not the ones from the movies) look makes them great. Many of the characters I like are also Turians. Saren, Nihlus, Garrus are some of the coolest ones. I think I like them mainly because of Garrus.

I like all of the races in ME except the Elcor. They just seem useless. I didn't much like the Hanar either until the Blasto commercials while running around Illium, they crack me up ("This one doesn't have time for its solid waste excrections." Brilliant). My favorite would have to be the Quarians though. Pretty much everything we learn about them in game is very interesting, from creating the Geth, to their reliance on the suits and even the Council turning their backs on them.

I don't have a particular favorite species. I like them all, well maybe except for the Vorcha. I even like Batarians. Humans, while I don't dislike them in the ME universe, rank low on my list of likes. Honestly, there just aren't many humans I come across that I really like. I like the human crew of the original Normandy, therefore including Dr. Chakwas and Joker on the new Normandy, I like Anderson, and I like Kasumi. And that's about it for humans I honestly like. Maybe Emily Wong, too. I liked Ashley, but after Horizon, she's on my "we'll see" list. ;)

No matter what happens.. when I get startled.. and I turn around to see two individuals behind me.. I'll shoot the thing with the blue tentacles on their head..

Two. Elcor and quarians. Elcor - for looking like a really strong combination of elephant and gorilla, for being over averagely nice and for their talking style. Quarians - for being poor people trapped inside their costumes and for keeping a mystery of how the hell do they look like.

For me the asari, for their way to see the life, their understanding and comprehension about the other species, and for their point of view of the universe.

I love the turians, especially because of their design, but also due to their typical stubbornness and sense of duty. My second favorite are the salarians because of their short lives, and their fast emotional process. Bioware really made the aliens seem real because of these racial qualities.
