That being said, it's much harder than it should be to make a decent looking toon - male or female. You get a couple locked viewing angles and flat lighting. Then in both games you have to sit through an unskippable cinematic, then in ME2 you have to play a short level and sit through another cinematic before you can even get a peek at what your results look like.
My current avatar is the result of:
- About ten different versions of a ME1 toon. Thats right, I got to hear Udina say, "Well, what about Shepard" ten times before I settled.
- A manual recreation of the ME1 toon in ME2 without a saved code since imported toons don't have codes. Had to eyeball it.
You are not alone here. I actually restarted ME1 half way through(a few times) because I thought my Shep looked "out of place" or just butt-ugly with weird lighting. That was prob why I hate the Mako so much.
i restarted my shep too at one point quite far into the game because from one angle her nose looked nasty xD

I tried again briefly in ME2, but it's just impossible for me to see Commander Shepard as anything but a woman voiced by Hale.

I can't get into mass effect when i'm a female in the game.

I'm a (33 year old) guy.
Jennifer Hale's amazingly pleasant and sexy voice and her great voice acting skills are the sole reason why I play FemShep.
I don't pretend that I'm the character on the screen when I play games, I'm just controlling him or her, so the gender doesn't really matter to me unless I have a specific reason to choose one over the other, such as I have in this case.
Around 99% of my music collection also features female vocals these days (Springsteen is pretty much the only man remaining that hasn't been kicked out

36 and female. My 39 year old husband also prefers femshep, but he played MaleShep for Tali. Sigh. Well, if he puts up with my Thane swooning I can put up with his Tali adoration.... :innocent:

I prefer femshep too. the voice acting is amazing and to be honest I'd rather watch a female running around for hours upon hours than some guy who isn't me. The only reason I played male shepard is for the romances. Fem shep stayed true to liara unless you include kelly (on the playthrough I will most likely keep as cannon although I have a lot of different saves). haha
In ME2 it's more like watching a female man-jog.

When I fist started playing I did this a lot. I'd get to Eden prime see what she really looked like in the light and start over. I've sort of gotten the hang of it now. They aren't going to be on Glamor magazine, but they look human and attractive.

I can never role-play a character that's not my gender. So I play femshep only. Plus I love her voice acting ^^v
same here, i could never play a female (i'm male obviously) character in a rpg, i sometimes create one just to see how they look etc, but i never really played a female character in a game, it somehow destroys the experience of roleplaying for me :innocent:

Whenever I play femshep I think about playing multiple characters and playthroughs and runs. Maleshep I have to fight the urge to turn off the game.
