On my outdoor level i have an ambient light to make the shadows not that dark, but like more realistic, but I tried to run the area and the character seem to not be affected at all by it, is there any way around this? or do I have to place pointlights everywhere?

new problem (see last posts)

just use a light probe within that level. also you will need a sunlight to affect characters.

I have sunlight, but the ambient light, which make the dark sides of the buildings brighter has the affect character option locked at "false".

Shall try the light probe.

EDIT: It worked, thanks for the help.

EDIT: It worked only in the level and area editor, but as soon as I loaded up the module ingame, which was exported after i added the light probe. which I can see because I added some creatures in it and they appear ingame, but the non-sunny side is still pitch black on the characters.

you have to render your light probes seperately. the button is right next to the render lightmaps button. the procedure is as this:

1. build your level while single player module is loaded
2. render your lightmaps
3. render your light probes
4. post your level to local
5. copy the resources as described here

you still encounter this issue?

another trick to "ambiently light your characters" is three massive static lights way outside the level, which only affect characters. If its an indoor level, ensure every room is lit by the room you place these lights in (you probably want to add them to a "shared lighting" room.

Seeing as my old thread got bumped up, is there a way to make a static light that does not have a 50% fade, like, it's inner radius is 100% and does not fade off untill outside it's radius?
