Ok so first I see is Kamalpoe's new screen shot of the textured OM and all I can think is "HOLY HELL THAT IS AWESOME!!", Then I see Hellfire's "example" of RWS Cliffs and all I can think is "HOLD CRAP I JUST CREAMED MYSELF!!!"\\

Anyways

I would really like to pitch in on this project. I'm drawing up a rough for a dragon's lair. I might put together another area or two depending on how long this one takes, and if we're including RWS cliffs in the hak, I am definitely using them.

If you turn things as dark as the Underdark, the rock faces or cliffs aren't very visible. Bring a torch.

If you ever want a source book, type in NTB's dropbox address with the source book name after it, and the chances are it'll come up. Image IPB

Just exactly how is someone supposed to link a module to this project?

It seems that while the link is now fixed, the quoted link is not. Just so you know, you have to go to the original on page 5 to get it. ;-)

It has to be added in via the campaign editor. With the SOZ project, I kept it only at one mod added. It wouldn't be difficult to add in others, though.

I meant how do we link an adventure to the overland map? In the SOZ project we used cave or ruin icons. Do we link a cave to a cavern? Will tunnels be leading off which go to adventures? How are the adventures expected to be accessed from the overland map?

If you would like a particular placeable on the Underdark map, just let me know. I can also put it anywhere you'd like. I put in some tunnels that dead end, and some more open spaces. I figured contributions would go in these, but if you wanted something in the middle of a "road" tunnel, I can do that too of course.

hey kamal (and Wyrin, as I know you also extensively used the OM tools) if, while doing this, you occasionally took the time to describe or note down how to do what it is you do in the OM/UM as a sort of general guideline on how to make things work in the OM, that would be much appreciated later, I bet.

I'm just asking as a potential source of better or more complete information than what we get out of the box when it comes to working with and in the OM tools/scripts to get things functional.

I thank you in advance,

best regards,

Scripting? Not me I just know which scripts need to be put on the area and the terrains. See Wyrin or Mokah. My campaign technically doesn't even have an OM, it has a fake pseudo one. There's no secret to area building in one either other than working at the reduced scale.

DNO,

I'm making the OM in Jabberwocky as close to a working SoZ one as possible and learning a ton in the process. I've picked Wyrin's brain on OMs and plan to do a little documentation for future builders as well. There's a lot about the 2DAs that isn't explained anywhere that I now understand. Certain things on the OM do not work without the cryptic mash of code that is SoZ, so I think the community would be better served to get a scripter and an area designer together to just make an OM prefab that has OM systems working.

Fred's resting system is what I'm now using for Jabberwocky and the goodie system seems to not work right, but I will solve that with NESS. Encounters are the huge thing and need to be setup just so to function as they did in SoZ. That is the current hurdle I'm working on.

Banshe did compile a lot of data and post it on the Citadel - can't dig the link out right now.

Gotta say tho, after pouring over the scripts there's still aspects I don't understand...

Great to hear someone's making use of the resting system. I had a bunch more ideas for that but got sidetracked onto other things.

Alas I can't look at OMs myself 'cos I still don't have SoZ (still mean to get it sometime when I'm not so damn busy) but if and when (hopefully when) such a time comes as I do have it, some documentation would be pretty awesome.

IIRC they never actually used the goody system I don't think, so unless anyone else has used it, it might be a pain to set up. Like I said, I wouldn't really know, though.

Anyway, just adding stuff to the OM/UM like we (read: CW) did last time would probably be fine for the project, I should think.

OMs probably need a whole good tutorial made for them. The goodie system, upon investigation, looks awfully complicated.

And as far as this goes: ugh, looks like I'm far more busy than I thought I'd be. :/

Anyone want to step up for this?--or maybe folks will be moving onto other things. Really, "Shagret" is demanding enough...and updating the SOZ project is gonna be tricky already.

Feel bad posting that, as I hate saying "can't do this", but it's the fact. :(

Sorry to ask this here but where can I find this SoZ content mods that you were talking about (Halloween one?!)?

Is there any other mods that add content directly into SoZ campaign that I should be aware of?

It's actually a Christmas special and I think it's called the SoZ Holiday edition. Off the top of my head, you should be able to find it in the Vault under English Modules. Sorry, I just don't have the mental clarity to find it for you today, otherwise I would've just posted a link.

You're looking for the SoZ Holiday Expansion.  It's well worth the download.

So how is this project coming along?

I just finished DAO for the second time and was thinking playing SoZ for the 4th time :D

I do not have the time to work on this at the moment. Between my own gigantic project(see below) and real life, it's a general impossibility.

However, as I've said numerous times, I would be more than willing to provide scripting support and other such things in assistance. I don't think it's necessary for me to be in charge.

Yeah, I've barely even opened the toolset in the past few weeks, which is quite sad (but I have kind of on and off periods). Sadly real life does its best to interfere, too. That said, I could probably find time to make something small if this were being put together.

Trying to get my own project out the door since it required a significant revamping of a module. But it seemed to me there was generally a lack of agreed upon focus and a lack of a willing leader to put things together.

Yes, I do want to make clear that my post wasn't "them darn community members ain't be a helping me"(or something like that). I think, overall, we're just a relatively busy bunch when it comes to NWN2, and it was something of an amazing turn of events that allowed the first project to get off the ground. Fault is not to be levied here by any means.
