The Shadow Broker is an individual 'possessed' by a Reaper.
In the novel Mass Effect: Retribution, Paul Grayson is implanted with Reaper technology and is 'upgraded' to near super human levels in all aspects.
This suits the saying that the Shadow Broker is the most powerful thing (quote from trailer) without throwing it into the level of pure cliche-ness. The Reapers do this to learn as much about the Galaxy and it's current inhabitants as they can before the cycle of extinction is unleashed.

Regardless of your thoughts, the Reapers care about the galaxy, and a main motif of the Retribution novel is father and son, along with nurturing and children.
The Reaper theory will also support  BOTH the claims of the SB being a single individual and a group, because even though the Shadow Broker is an individual, being possessed by the Reapers means you are controlled by many many Reapers from their post in dark space.

Paul Grayson was only under the influence of the Reapers for a short period of time and was a major adversary to everyone he came across. Imagine what someone under the control of the Reapers for decades would be like.

Sigh.. I feel ignored... <_<

Like I've said previously.. it cannot be a reaper or someone controlled by a reaper. It makes no sense storywise. Saren, while indoctrinated, betrayed the Shadow Broker (as explained by Barla Von in ME1). Thus if the Shadow Broker is a reaper... a reaper betrayed a reaper?

Either Bioware will have to retcon or the reapers for all their might are just stupid.

There may be different reaper factions. Why would the Shadow Broker help the collectors, or why would they specifically contact him? It's hardly like the SB is a mercenary army for hire.

Different... reapers.... ? <_<
He didn't try to help the Collectors. He just made a deal. A damn good deal. Usually, burned corpses aren't worth that much.

The shadow broker has enough information to understand the reapers motives-why would he help them, as they're trying to destroy all life? Unless, as a reaper, he's promised immunity?

Idk if he's a reaper, bioware probably have something better in store, just a quick theory.

My guess:

An very old Salarian. Maybe the last member of the league of one. Strapped to some kind of life extending machine (thats why the artificial voice in the trailer), just like Felix Jongleur in Otherland.

It's a Geth collective, there is no way it could be any one person, NOR the 13th League of 1 guy cause well, thats just so outlandish. Not to mention, like Legion says, there are sections of Geth out there that function oustide of the parameters of their coding. AND there is no way a collection of anything but maybe Salarians or geth that could keep track. Also Legion hints that his group of Geth are looking for information about the universe, always seeking knowledge

A certain biotic god.

I would have to say that the shadow broker is a Volus. The race is too weird so one of them has to be the shadow broker

Well, I have no idea who the Shadow Broker could be.
I think someone or something closely related to the Reapers or Protheans if not one of them, but also like the idea of the Consort Sha'ira.
Unlocking the Prothean artifact in Eletania with the gift from her was flagged as an event imported in Mass Effect 2. What about if we'll find out the result in this DLC?

(Ps.: Sorry if my english is not correct enough.)

I'm guessing it's a renegade Reaper.

my guess is that we don't truely find out who the shadow broker is, that he/she/them get away, or we will inevitabley begin to take our "orders" from the shadow broker

I think that the Shadow Broker's actually an AI program created by some quietly mentioned character in the Mass Effect universe. Not really sure who, though. Probably some character who's an obvious choice.

Colonel Mustard. Library. Wrench.

It has to be an AI. I'd say the Shadow Broker's Ship Is the Shadow Broker.

i think an AI, i mean there had to be some reason why the council banned AI production (yes this happened before the Geth) and if i have to be specific the AI from on the citadel ME1 but its part of a larger program so it can pick up from different areas,

My guess would have been:

* Bane- but he's human and the Shadow Broker has been around for a while, plus i'm sick of all the turians in the galaxy.

*Barla von- makes much more sense, expecially since he's a known information broker, but in a cut news cast he dies...

*Reaper- which would be Sovereign but then it dies in ME1... so did Harbringer take over... or is there another one... dun dun dun...

*TIM- altough I really hope it isn't, and it would just mean that he delibertly worked against himself...

*Misc. guesses: left over prothean, some new species, Blasto, and the ever infamous liara's dad and Alena (Or however you spell her name).

*Most likely candidate is an asairi, because of their age and wisdom, salarian (female?) because of their huge wealths of intelligence but it would have to be several on account of their life spans, or volus, because of their trade/ diplomacy skills.

I think my final answer is Barla von, since we've met him bevfore and it did seem a little obvious when we first met him, but hey, a surprise would be nice. Hmmm that makes me think, do we actually know if we will find out who the shadow broker is, I mean, Bioware could do another Tali's face reveal... or maybe we have to choose between capturing the shadow broker and finding his identity or rescuing the entire Normandy and her crew from a nuke... hehehehe

But yeah I know my guesses count for nothing as pretty much everything has been said but goodluck everyone :)

I'm not so sure we will find out who the Shadow Broker is. I think by the end of LoSB we'll know more about the Shadow Broker, but not his/her/its identity. Of course I could be wrong, but Bioware is good at setting up cliffhanger endings.
