From what I read on the wiki, a Broodmother is quite similar to the queen bee, in that she is the one who births the Darkspawn. Broodmothers are female's(of whichever race) turned darkspawn.

So, no I think Hurlocks, Genlocks, Ogres, and Shrieks are all males.

As to Broodmothers don't look like the rest of the Darkspawn, her look fits her role, which is to give birth and I guess raise the little Darkspawn.

Your right, we have no proof that they are male. Just masculine looking.
