She has a plan, I'm not sure if I would call her evil. She certainly knows more than she lets on, but she hasn't done too much in the way of bad things yet to know if she really is a villainous character.

I thought she saves you....so that makes her good...

that makes her opportunistic to me

Because having wardens to stop the blight is a very selfish thing to do, I suppose she only gains from that...

a freed soul of an old god into a baby she can raise seems like a fine motive to me if she intends to free the old gods

THats what Morrigan says and does....morrigan has a mind of her own too...
Old gods may not be bad....so far nothing concrete on them...

She knew very well there was going to be a blight, the boon she asked from king Maric in " The stolen throne" was most likely to have the wardens return. Meaning she had everything planned out. She wanted the old god baby for herself. But why? What happened to the other Oldgods if she is one herself doesn't that make the  other 3 slain? Or are we seeing a repeat of what happened in the past. Flemeth made her passed daughters preform the ritual and inturn she took over there bodies, Flemeth could indeed be the embodyment of the past 4 archdemons. But this doesn't explain why the grey wardens died when they slayed the demons. Maybe the ritual was flawed, maybe something extra was needed which the Morrigan and Warden/Alistair/Loghain had. Or Maybe the Warden was just suppoce to die...and somehow survived, after all they used archdemon blood in the joining maybe the warden drank more than any other warden, seeing as the cup was empty and there should have been enough there for three recruits, jory never drank it. Meaning the Warden had a double dose?

flemeth might just be looking to free the old gods by using the old god baby method, the old gods might not be inherently evil but i don't think they see the other races of thedas more than livestock

That doesn't  make any Damn sense. If the ritual did indeed fail, then there is no God baby. YOUR the god. The taint would have been destroyed but your warden would have asorbed the soul. -Shrugs- Could explain how in awakening you have new Talents, Spells etc to Learn. The Warden becoming stronger. And then the vanishment act, Perhaps in which hunt morrigan merely just uses the mirror to awaken the power thats within the warden, that would be indeed awesome.

Nope, its the tainted soul that would kill you it's an empty vessal while the warden isn't. The ritual allowed you to destroy the taint but allow the soul to be asorbed. This could either be your warden or the GB
Another clue that it could indeed be the warden is the skills in Awakening. Rune Making, A mixture of dwarfen and Trevinter skill, very ancient and only the tranquil can make these runes. So how the hell Did the Warden learn to make runes?

not only tranquil can make runes.

the way i see it everyone has that ability, although the lesser your connection to the fade, the more efficient you can be at rune making.

this makes dwarves and tranquils specially suitable to the job.

Then isn't it weird that a powerful mage is able to create runes?

unfortunately gameplay hardly coincided with the lore on the games, such as non grey warden party members could be drenched in darkspawn blood and still be totally fine with it.

True, but the possibility that the Ritual did fail and the warden ended up asorbing the soul instead of the child would be an awesome plot twist. Specially with the Expansion called Awakening, I would love to see the warden having an awakening of their own.

In the Stolen Throne, Flemeth's house has a gruesome collection of corpses of innocent non-templar men. Dannon is the only one that is named, but the bodies were from a camp of people persecuted by the Orlesians. Dannon was killed for irritating Flemeth with his impoliteness while he was fleeing the Orlesians.

Interesting. I haven't read The Stolen Throne, mind you. Posted Image

If Flemeth literally murdered someone over "impoliteness", she's not just evil, she's alien. But I suppose sharing her body with fade spirits (one demon? multiple?) could make Flemeth all sorts of things: evil, insane, alien, possessed, controlled, warped, scattered, demonic...

Just what was this act of impoliteness? Does the novel explicitly show Dannon being rude? Or does Flemeth tell her audience that he was?

I could see a wicked witch murdering someone disrespecting her. I can also imagine "impoliteness" being an understatement - to a shapeshifting dragon, a physical attack by a desperate refugee might be "impolite."  Finally, I think an alien mind like Flemeth just might not give a s___ about human life. She might not even view humans as persons, or might trivialize personhood.

She does have the option to avoid them. The templars are merely trying to protect people from apostate mages, a legitimate task.

She certainly does. The Chantry could also stop persecuting apostates.

Unless you start the game with a new Warden.  Did they say the new Warden was supposed to be the DAO Warden or was it a Warden similar to Awakening.

Well in DA:2 you're hawke, but in awakening bioware tried to make it so that people would import there wardens rather than create an orlesian.

Flemeth had some of the best lines in Origins, to be frank. I really don't care what her plans are or where she falls on the good/evil scale, provided she stays half as sarcastic as she was during Origins.

Well the Reapers are evil. And we talk about mortality again after Shepard kicks their robot arses from planet to planet in ME3.
