According to DG, DA2 will be shorter than Origins

Second play through - 'Hey, these areas are nowhere near as big as I thought they were'
Third play through - ' Do I HAVE to do this area again?'
As long as I can get at least 30 hours out of the main quest (not including side quests) in the first play through I'll be content. Anything longer is just a bonus.

As long as you are not forced to rush through the game and can still take your time for banter, (more varied) side quests and exploration I wouldn't complain.
I was also one of those guys who weren't disappointed by the lack of an inventory or the Mako in Mass Effect 2. I only miss features and additional playtime when they are fun. Having to go through hundreds of weapons and exploring empty planets wasn't fun for me. At least not after the first playthrough.

Dragon Age Origins remained enjoyable to me if I followed the main quest and only did the interesting side quests. I really dislike having to run deliveries for unknown guys, not to mention that with the Blight going it seemed ridiculous that the last of the Grey Wardens took a little detour to inform the wives of some low-profile mercenary band that their husbands died. Give me 30 hours of a story packed main path and some interesting side quests and I'll be happy.

I wish this were not so. I like huge games that take forever to beat.
People obviuosly don't read this forum closely.
1. This was confirmed before PAX.
2. Gaider said it in his chat yesterday as well.

You know, that's exactly how I felt about the Fade and the Deep Roads. Fits it to a tee.Icinix wrote...

I find these "boring" parts very needed in dragon age.

I'm a quality over quantity type of guy. If it's 30 hours of the best RPG'ing I've had in a while, I'll definitely take that.
Pretty much how I feel.

Agreed, although I definitely take a great quantity of quality, if possible ^^

Why do all you people hate the deep roads and the fade? Cuz you have to actually fight things and explore. Playing to that standard why not cut out all player control and just go through all of the dialogue to create your own movie?
Because they were long, dreadful and boring?
Oh god... Good bye RPG's

RPGs absolutely must contain long tedious areas or they are not RPGs. Because long tedious areas let you roleplay so much...~Elanareon wrote...

If you need someone to hold your hand and do your "role playing" for you, then no probably not.

I much preferred ME2's and KOTOR's 35 hours over DAO's 60 hours.
Just look at Oblivion, it was over a 100 hours long, but I had more fun in Fallout 3's 30 hours. Same goes with GTA, Vice City was considerably shorter than San Andreas, but I much preferred Vice City.

The old argument. "It's perfect, well it isn't, but if you imagine it is!" Really to roleplay I actually have to have something in the game that allows me to express myself besides killing and looting.relhart wrote...

Of course, after all, it is the better situation to start a monologue... And those are the very soul of any RPG.

Uh huh, you go on and cling to your idea that RPGs must consist of long and tedious areas. Those are the key words, they're not emersive or challenging, they're just fluff.
They don't add much to the story by being long and pointless, and they don't even consist of much difficulty, just mainly dragged out length. So what part of that screams RPG to you? If that's what RPGs are supposed to be, then RPGs are pretty much doomed to fail.

Not everyone finds them long and tedious, was the point. Exploring and combat are far more enjoyable to me than sitting through scripted dialogues.

Then Bioware games are not for you. Bathesda is that way ------>
