So you admit you lack imaginiaion, well there you go, mystery solved.  Not everyone does.

Uh huh, you go on and cling to your idea that RPGs must consist of long and tedious areas. Those are the key words, they're not emersive or challenging, they're just fluff.

They don't add much to the story by being long and pointless, and they don't even consist of much difficulty, just mainly dragged out length. So what part of that screams RPG to you? If that's what RPGs are supposed to be, then RPGs are pretty much doomed to fail.

Not everyone finds them long and tedious, was the point.  Exploring and combat are far more enjoyable to me than sitting through scripted dialogues.

Then Bioware games are not for you. Bathesda is that way ------>

Thankfully, I can enjoy both, as the saturday morning cartoon quality story arcs in Bioware games are skippable.

Yes because Bathesda does such a better job at RPGs. Riiiiiight:whistle: Why are you even playing Bioware games if you are skipping the dialogue? Thats what makes a Bioware so much better then other RPG studios, imo. Its like buying a donut and then removing the jelly.  You can just ignore the jelly filled donut and go for the Bearclaw.

And not everyone likes havings portions of the game in which you're forced to just do combat and exploring. And these people definitely do not just consists of people who need "hand-holding" as you like to put it.

Frankly it was awkward for me to explore these places, going back and forth, while my party members have nothing to say at all.

Ummm... I watched same segment he didnt necessary say it was shorter. First off he said right now its shorter, he also said they are not completely done with writing segment and also there will be hours of pointless walking removed. Its still prob. shorter but I wouldnt make a big fuss over it.

You could talk to them, I know the bard had a little conversation option for every area you visited in the game, or at least she did every time I checked to see.  Besides, the distance between Ruck and Branka is what? an hour?  two at the most depending on how bad you are at the game and have to reload.  That's not exactly dungeon crawler caliber.

Yeah I saw that today too, which made me wonder where IGN was getting their info from, as the game segements aren't even put together yet.

So many doom sayers. Mad Hermit's school.

DAO can be easily completed in 20 hours. But you can spend 80 playing it. So, how long is DAO in fact? Hm?

Yeah well, I hope they cut mostly filler sidequests and combat... DAO felt artificially lengthened at times. If it's shorter and there are still some boring parts, then meh.

As long as the game doesn't feel too dragging *cough*Fade*cough* I'm fine with it, 20, 30, 40 or even 50 hours.

If there's enough satisfying material for more than one replay, I'm perfectly content with an ME2-length game.

In fact I'm reassured to hear them confirming that it's shorter -- with such a quick development time, they need to focus on a limited scope they can actually polish.

I don't see what the big deal is. Everybody knows Bioware is going to release a bunch of DLC that'll lengthen the game by 30 hours. Of course, if you don't wanna pay an extra 100 bucks for a 60 dollar game, I could see how you'd have a problem. Like ME2, DA2 will simply be shorter because more profit can be made that way.:P

Tell budget and technical aspects that they wouldn't be as much of an issue if this game were released on a  much later date.

This is entirely untrue. Money and space do not grow on trees.

My first run in DAO was a bit over one hundred hours, because I spent so much time running back and forth to complete side quests and such. Subsequent playthroughs have been between fifty and seventy hours for me.

Honestly, I will be happy if DA2 is somewhat shorter. Although for me the part that drags isn't so much Deep Roads or the Fade, but the section between assembling the army at Recliffe and the Landsmeet. It's not so much the quests themselves, but the sense that I've gathered my troops now and just want to get on with kicking Loghain and the Archedemon into next Tuesday.

So, 50 hours instead of 60? Fine by me.

More like 30 instead of 60 if ME2 was their gauge.
