Duncan seemed willing to recruit people with pretty serious outside interests - vengeance driven Couslands being the most obvious example.  She wouldn't be a good choice during Origins but afterwards, when Alistair is secure on the throne and she is bored of being stuck in the tower, it would be an interesting prospect.

Well, I went off Alistair when he wanted to cut Loghain's head off, so it goes both ways (was going to say cuts both ways, but too much pun is bad).

Loghain's done rather more to deserve death than Alistair, who is simply inconvenient.

Anora is very ruthless, though she does seem to be honest in her dedication to Ferelden.  She'd make a good grey warden, actually.

No she wouldn't. Her loyalty is to herself and Fereldan in that order. Maybe it's just me but I don't want someone who's willingness to combat the Blight is going to be compromised because of pre existing loyalties.

Well nobody understood why the Grey Wardens were needed, but one person until after the Landsmeet. I don't see it unreasonable at all for Anora to believe her father is the better choice to lead the armies than two rookie Grey Wardens.

This has nothing to do with her daddy worship. It's about how easily she could become compromised if it looked like Fereldan might get the short end of the stick combating the Blight. She would not be acting as a Warden but as a spokesperson/advocate for Fereldan.

I can't see any Fereldan warden not acting for the good of Ferelden, but we've veered wildly off topic. Edit: well, any of my wardens, anyway. People play wardens with all kinds of motivations. And a I don't mean Fereldan as a political entity. Only my Cousland warden would care much about that.

Those people had no where else to go. By saving them from whatever situation they were in, Duncan was hoping to guarantee loyalty to the Wardens and their cause. Plus he desperately needed recruits at that point. Whatever he could get he'd have to take.

hmm, maybe you're right. I was thinking about political Anora and not has been locked up in the Tower for heavens knows how long Anora. Still, her loyalty to Fereldan might be a problem if answering the Blight called for Fereldan to leave itself weaker or exposed somehow. She'd likely be unwilling to do it and because of her arrogance unable to see she was in the wrong.

I don't think any of my wardens were very loyal to the Grey Wardens, actually - one or two were grateful to Duncan for pulling them out of a tight spot, a couple hated him for conscripting them - but none of them had been a part of the wardens long enough to meet anyone other than Duncan and Alistair, so had no real bond with the others.

I don't think any of them would have played ball if they had been called to leave Fereldan exposed. Fereldan is their home - they have more loyalty to it than to some group they know little about.

Ok so obviously my Wardens were just a particularly treasonous bunch, lol. I'll stop my derailment now.
