You're just wrong, I dunno what to tell you

if you like free-roaming go play Oblivion, it's a good game

Free roaming is not the defining characteristic of BG1. And no, I don't like Oblivion but what BG1 gives you is a free hand in going anywhere you like, even if that leads you to certain death and misfortune you still chose it

You're suggesting Oblivion to a guy who thought Baldur's Gate 2 was inferior to Baldur's Gate?

Nice.

Oblivion is symbolic of degenerate consoletardness.

BG I is free roaming with a light story and bad lewt, BG II is a proper RPG.

The only good part about that game was the Dark Brotherhood storyline. Aside from that, and playing an assassin/thief or Witch-Thief = crap. All crap. Morrowind was better, and Fallout 3 was basically Oblivion with guns.

BG1 does not have bad 'lewt' you MMO **********. it has relevant loot and so when you finally achieve your first sword of badass+1 you actually feel a sense of accomplishment because they aren't scattered around every box crate

Time passes, games evolve, perhaps not the way you want but that's not our problem (or at least not mine) ... I liked BG, loved BG II, they were good games for their time... but I also love ME, ME2, DA:O and I will surely love DA2. Not because they are difficult or not, but because when I'm playing them, I play a role in a beautifull story in attractive worlds. Being a badass is not how fast you blow things up for me. My Warden is a badass without his righteous armor and my Shepard is a badass without using a M-922 Cain. They are just badass, period.

How 'bout WoW then? big world, lots of dangers, you may even step into doomlord Kazzak by accident and lead you to certain death & misfortune.

Your BG I is a half baked mmo, investor money that you hate so much rushed devs to complete it into its known form. Probably they didn't even have time to put all lewt in game :D

Eh, I'll take Baldur's Gate's bad lewt and light story over Oblivion's lackluster dialogue and cheap level scaling anytime.

Can't we just all agree that BG1 owns and the past, and all it's promises of intelligent, nuanced inspired CRPGS has been betrayed?

That's exactly what we're not agreeing on, pay attention.

And then you respawn!

Oh wait, that doesn't happen in either BG's. You just die. Permanently, if you're really unlucky. Death and misfortune is all good, but when your characters die permanently..as in never come back unless you spend loads of gold on ressurecting them..then it can get tediously horrible sometimes.

There was ever a promise of intelligent, nuanced inspired CRPG?

Alright, that's quite enough.

Someone thinks game evolution should have ended with BG1, or that we owe them another game just like it? Fair enough. It is not okay to fling insults at everyone who disagrees with you by making inflammatory remarks.

Shutting this down before it goes further.
