1. We don't know what the specs are. So, maybe there's a remote chance that there are specs that allow one class to learn the weapon/talent trees of another class. So warriors can learn DW. Mages can wield Sword and Shield and 2h.........etc.
2. The other thing is that some have heard the devs mention that Hawke might get "unique" abilities.
Who knows..........maybe that means Hawke will be able to cross over into other classes........

Regardless, it's not that big of a deal. The only times I ever used bows on my non-rogue characters were when I ran out of inventory space and needed to use the extra weapon slots. Yeah, Scattershot is a pretty useful pulling ability for a tank, but that's more of a balance issue than anything. One ability is poor justification for an entire tree, however, and warriors won't even have access to archery talents regardless. It's not hard to give tanks a ranged pulling ability without requiring archery. Make Smite a bit weaker, put it earlier in the Templar tree, problem solved.
Citing real-world logistics is rarely a convincing argument for specific design decisions. Why can't mages use daggers? Why can't I take disarmed traps? Why can't I wear different gloves on different hands? All of these things would be nice as features. However, I can't guarantee the resources required to implement them would be worth it.
Besides, there are some people who like more restrictions on their classes. Just like it may bother someone else that warriors can't even hold a bow, it bothered me a bit that Warden Commander Plate was the best armor for rogues. I would rather rogues not even be able to use plate in Origins. You can't please everyone; BioWare isn't making decisions just to spite their audience.

I didn't have abig problem with the removal of DW from warriors, as I've posted elsewhere, but I'll admit the fact you can't even equip a bow if you don't have access to the skill line surpasses even my forgiving nature. Two years ago my nephew, who was 4 at the time, figured out how to use his toy bow and suction cup arrows in under 5 seconds.

there are only 2 scenarios where I can see the possibility of warriors being able to DW in DA2.

It could be because Warrior's do AOE with each swing now, and rogues do not. That may be a coding nightmare, or a lot of extra work for not much gain. Though I don't know for sure if it would be as hard as I think it would be technically speaking.

That's also a possible explanation for why Warriors can't equip daggers. Having a dagger auto-attack do AoE damange in a 120° arc might be silly.Jacks Smirking Revenge wrote...

Why not give warrior throwing weapon as a replacement tree ? a tree that allow warrior to chug axes, spear and half a chair at his enemies sound like fun.
I support the hurling of furniture and other heavy objects in DA2

This just gives off a very ME2 simplification/limiting choice vibe to me that I'm not a fan of.

I'll be honest, I'm concerned about this, too. ME2 was a good game, but I only wanted to play it once. It didn't have the same replayability as the first ME. I'm concerned the same thing is happening here. In ME2, according to their statistics more people played soldier than any other class combined. The reason, I suspect, is because the soldier is the only one that could use all of the weapons (that's why I switched from Vanguard in the first one to Soldier in the second).
Simplifying things is good - over-simplifying things *isn't* good. I'm keeping an open mind, but still, there are some concerns.

Technically we don't know if warriors can or cannot equip daggers -- they can use "weapon + shield" style and the exact appearance of weapon in that combination is supposedly up to the art department. They aren't limited to making weapon in that style look only like sword, it can be just as well axe, mace or whatever. Though granted, the possibility a dagger is going to be one of options for that fighting style is very low.Sylvius the Mad wrote...

I do hope that both Rogues and Warriors have access to a wide variety of blunt weapons.tmp7704 wrote...

Well, if they go the Jade Empire route, you may get your choice of dual wield table legs or dual wield hams....
