if a warrior needs to strike at long range. do we have skills to compensate the lack of the archery tree on the warrior?

no.

you're there to tank and swing your sword.

the other 2 classes have both melee and ranged attacks, why can't warriors?

Because they're warriors?

I would not ask the milkman to deliver mail.

I would but it wouldn't be mail as much as a cute term for dirty monkey sodomy.
ANYWAY makes sense even if it still doesn't explain the lack of duel blades.

How will they improve it for rogues? Rogues in this game suck big time, while they excel in the World of Warcraft.

What? Rogues are fine.

I just liked DW warrior as it was different than your stereotypical sword and board or huge two hander. Again, I don't think the solution to making the classes more unique was to just get rid of choice and classes like the warrior archer or DW.

ditto.

to late to change anything though.

Warriors can dual wield as DPSer's, but for tanking a shield is preferred over a two-hander.

Lol! Really? Try and play a rogue in WoW, then you will see what you are missing. Then comeback and tell me if you still think rogues are "fine" in DAO.

Rather make the DW warrior distinct from a DW rogue- not just parsing things down.
The whole axing of choice and features reeks of ME2 style "streamlining" to me, but I'll of course wait and see what this all looks like whenever we get some gameplay video.

I agree, to make them different they could of gave them different DW skills, not just take it away.

Well that would be nice if it were true.  Based on the "streaminging" philosiphy the game is going for, it's pure supposition that is in conflict with every thing that has been revealed, at least in terms of gameplay.

They've admit they put a lot more work in each spec, though. They wanted each class to feel like those individual classes and that's why they've put archery / DW into rogues-only. They'd be able to tune it more for the agile fighter instead of trying to make both warriors and rogues do the same thing.

Well I'm not going to knock it untill I try it, DAO had one of the worst class systems I have seen in an RPG, (thank god for mods)  at least as far as my taste for character building goes.  I'm not holding out hope any depth is getting added to the system though.

I think rogues are just right in DAO (try the dex evasion item tank rogue please) but OP in Wow.
(coming from a guy who's regularly exploded by rogues in wow)

They aren't even comparable, since they are two separate games, balance from one has no bearing on the other <_<

Lol... haha... People dont do that as much anymore.

This topic begs the real question that if DW is out for warriors is there a third tree or just the two we know now?

Wait my rogue never learned to pickpocket....unless you count looting corpses and tasking things out of chests that do not belong to me....then all my character were theives.

anyway, even if we don't get long range attacks for warrior at least allow the charge skill to really close the distance between us and our enemies

I know this. But don't say that rogues are fine in Dragon Age. I play them in many games; but they are worst in DA.

By "suck" you mean they are not as powerful as other classes or just not as fun to play as in WOW?

Edit: nevermind, the above post answered my question.

I believe it was mentioned at gamescon that warriors do have a skill smilar to charge in wow that you can use to close the gap quickly.

Indeed, most of you are right in your suppositions.

Removing dual wield specialization from warriors allowed us to not only make the classes more distinct, but to make the dual wield attacks all distinctly rogue-ish. A warrior in plate mail being fast with two daggers I could handle, but flipping and rolling into attacks? That didn't make sense. So, we could either have boring, vanilla dual-wield anims, or we could make them for rogues and deliver lithe, acrobatic combat for a class that should be just that.

So....anychance you can retroact this into origins so my city elf girl rogue will be more awesome? :D

Otherwise i'm perfectly fine with thise choice

Why not give warrior throwing weapon as a replacement tree ? a tree that allow warrior to chug axes, spear and half a chair at his enemies sound like fun.
