What's with killing people you don't like??

I hear a lot of people saying "rawr rawr, I hate this person, I killed them, ha ha!"

I have people I may not love, sure, but I'd never kill them off. Aside from the fact that I don't feel my Shepard would let a teammate bite it just because of dislike, I'd never cut myself out of game content.

So I'm curious - why kill someone you dislike? Isn't it better to keep them around and be a douche to them, at the very least?

Its simple for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For all the love a charachter can generate, there are an equal number of people who dont like that charachter.

Someone says :I WUV SO AND SO, the hater says "I HATE THEM"

However since its the internet many folks do try and jab others in their comments.

It's a way of sealing their dislike into an actual, in-game action, I guess. Makes it feel more final than just hating them?
I love all the characters, though, so I wouldn't know. :wizard:

Killing someone in the suicide mission because you don't like him, is just stupid. Sure, Jack is a psycho bi***, but she is one of the best human biotics out there. And Zaeed may be a guy that wants someone killed whatever the cost, but he is simply...cool. Only in my first playthrought I lost 2 of mates because I didn't knew who to put where. Killing someone for dislike is simply put, a bit akward, but a lot stupid.

Lol, well I understand people loving and hating characters, characters and character fandom will always yield a diverse range of reactions.

It's killing people for said hate that puzzles me.

i can see why some would want to keep those that they hate around but i am not one of those people when it comes to ME 2. i have no problem using the SM to kill the ones i hate like Thane and Tali.

You can't be a proper douche to your allies in ME2. Me I only kill Garrus most of the time. Chiefly because I did not recruit him in ME1 (because I dislike him) and I think this is not properly handled in ME2. My Shepards are still buddy-buddy with him so to stop that nonsense I have to kill him.

I wouldn't kill anyone off. The only reason I would intentionally let any of my crew die is if they decide that's the only way to get ME1 squadmates back in ME3 ;) Hopefully they don't force something like that on us though. Each person has a story and I think killing them off means less content later on. I want more content, not less.

I agree, although I've killed off possible party members in Dragon Age, such as "The Assassin", "The Enchanter" and "The Regent" to keep spoilers at a minimum, but only because they directly opposed my party. If put in the same position in ME3, I will not hesitate to kill whoever endangers my crew or me, the only one brave enough to do the latter being "The Justicar".

It's so they don't annoy you later.

I've never killed anyone in the SM, but I confess to taking certain avenues towards fulfilling my petty revenge/grudge desires against those I may not love quite so much (i.e., recruiting that character later rather than sooner).

Is it Tali that annoys you, or Tali's fans? And when she talks to you, are you hearing Tali, or the echo of the annoyance you feel for her fan group?

That's not a terrible way to put it. My canon game has everyone alive, btw. That was from my renegade playthrough.

Is that annoyance less now that their thread has been deep-sixed?

So exactly how big is the percentage of people who are killing characters off because of feelings inspired by that character's fan group, and not the actual character?

Typically, people kill off characters so they can post screenshots of it and think they're being funny and original by trolling subsets of the community.

I've never killed off a character purposefully, although I accidentally lost Thane and Legion on my first run through the suicide mission. Read Ecael's guide and fixed that, though. Even if they could potentially only be a cameo in ME3, I want them all there. And if there is somehow more content for killing a character than keeping him/her/it alive, there are downloadable saves for that.

As much as I hate some characters, I'd hate it even more if I miss something in ME3 because I intentionally killed a character I didn't like.

There's also a certain strategic element to killing off only certain characters, and not others (at least, I know some players treat it that way).

I never understood it, seems childish to me. I don't like Grunt that much or Jack, I really don't like Jacob and I hate what they have done with Liara. Grunt has some funny lines sometimes so he is worth using even if I don't like him, I had one of my Shepards romance Jack even though I don't like her that much just to do the romance and as much as I may say I hope we can kill off Liara in the DLC I never really would do it.

I too find that to be weird, in my opinion a true leader tries to keep everyone alive under their command, regardless of what they think of them on a personal level.
