Hi,

Okay, so I have my assigned area, I have an outline of everything I want to happen in my scene ... I'm pretty much good to go.

I have two questions, however:

1) Can I make a character switch weapons during a cutscene? specifically, early on she's equipped with a bow, which she only has to use once at the beginning - after that it's dual blades all the way. Thinking ahead, I created two versions of this character, on with longbow equipped, the other with dual blades equipped (both added to the area and available to the activated in the cutscene). I can have one out of sight off map while not in use (correct?), but I'd like to know if there's a way to do the switch on a single character rather than switching versions of that character.

2) This one I'm a little more worried about. I'm using weather effects (snow) and two animated fires (flames + smoke + animated lights) in my scene, and while they show up when I exported the area to see how things looked in game, neither the weather effects or the fire effects appear in the cutscene editor. 'Enable Level Effects' is set to 'True'.

Is it usual for these kinds of effects not to appear in the cutscene editor? It's confusing because, as I said, they show up and work just fine when I tested the area in game.

*EDIT*

R.e. my second question - this is weird. I've started adding poses and keys to characters for the start of the scene, and just like that the snow, flames and smoke have appeared. Hmmm ... Lag? Editor just slow to respond? Anyway, it seems to have sorted itself out ...

As an aside, I'd just like to say how helpful I've found these forums to be. I'm by nature a lurker (as you can see from my paltry number of posts - not even double figures!) but I've poured through the toolset forums over the last week or so, looking for and very often finding answers to my (many) questions about the tool. So, thanks to everyone who has been good enough to answer my questions without me even having to ask them (I love it when that happens. Posted Image)

1) As far as I am aware, you in fact have to swap out the actor.
1)A) Wellllll... you could place the weapon model in the cutscene (under models, they're labelled like w_...) add a 'link to actor' event to them and select right hand weapon for the Node. But this is fairly clumsy, and the weapons won't have tints.

2) 'Enable Level Effects' refers to things like Bloom or the Fade effect, frame buffer effects. EDIT: Wrong info removed.

Thanks for the info, Fergus. You may have posted before my edit to q2, as the effects I mention are in fact now present in the cutscene.

Anyway, making progress, if slow progress. It's by turns fascinating and frustrating - that learning curve thing - but I'm getting little glimmers of things coming together ... loooong way to go I suspect, but I'm getting there.

Yes indeed... I read it and then strangely couldn't remember if they showed up or not. I seemed to remember a fire working, but loading up a test cutscene I was missing a 'leaves falling' effect, so perhaps I ran into the same issue as you. :P
