How is sky handled in-game? I ask because I would like to make a custom one (or more, if possible)

In the level editor, if you go to the level properties (near the plus sign on the toolbar in exteriors, the object inspector box of the 'building' object in interiors), one of the fields is 'Skydome model'. You can pick day, night, fade, or a few other slightly different ones. Using the atmosphere properties in the same location, you can customise all sorts of thing such as clouds, fog, colour, light, etc.

Adding a fully custom sky would require you to find where these skydome models are kept and figure out how to make a new one (Or, I believe you can also override things like the texture used for the sun). However, I don't think it would be necessary unless you want to do something really radical.

so, already I could, for example, make the Fade Sky red?

if those are skydomes, perhaps this same way

Something like that, but it'd be quite different in its particulars for DAO.

But yes, it would be quite easy to make a red fade sky. You'd select the fade skydome and then change values like Atmo-Sun colour and cloud colour. Just play around with all the atmosphere variables in the area properties box.

I take that weather is indipendent from skydome then, is it? just vfxs over the place or something more?

do you have any idea where the textures (if we're talking about textures) might be?
