I just got the Awakenings expansion disk from GameStop and have loaded it but when I go in to play the game it gets stuck at 'checking save data...". I finally let it sit for an hour before trying to restart and I still had the same issues... now, it's been 'checking save data' for well over 2 hours now. What do I need to do to get passed this?
DAO Awakenings help please

Ok, I think I *finally* figured it out! After hours of scouring the board here I saw someone post that they found out this issue was because their internet wasn't enabled. So, I turned mine on (have no clue how it was turned off in the first place since I play most my games online) and it's now downloading an update that wasn't showing up before.
I'm pretty sure it's going to work now.

hmmm... you went in under your ps3 and turned on your internet connection? When you first load the disk, it downloads the first patch but then I turned on my internet under the settings on the ps3 menu and when I tried to run the game again it automatically downloaded *another* patch. after the second download it finally worked. If it still doesn't download the second patch for you I would suggest checking to make sure there is nothing wrong with your internet connection. Make sure the ps3 is actually connecting... you could try calling your internet server provider for assistance on hooking up the internet to the ps3.. Hopefully this helps you!

I've had this issue 1-2 times, usually when I don't play the game for weeks or if there is a FW or DA patch etc... or I have downloaded new content.
IT was scary, but I rebooted during the "checking for saves" and luckily had no corruption, upon reboot checking for saves was it's normal slowness instead of the "ok it's been 10 minutes, that's 10x longer than expected..."
