Male Hawke all the way raawr! For both his beard and ass :-) But seriously I enjoy a nice looking avatar almost as much as I enjoy the scenery. I mean you ARE looking at your avatar a lot in most games.

Yeah, I usually don't pay much attention to my character unless s/he starts disobeying my orders. I'd feel kind of weird staring at my own character lasciviously.

You don't need to stare to notice. Part of the joy of RPGs is crafting the look of your character and customising their outfits, equipment, etc.filaminstrel wrote...

When I play male characters, I try to make them look badass. When I play female characters I try to make them look attractive, sexy and badass.

Good Etain/Marian Hawke then evil Garret Hawke.
I doubt that there will be enough replayability to justify a third playthrough.
I usually do the opposite. Good male protagonist, evil female. No deep-seeded reasoning behind it really, it's just I always want to play both genders and I've already done the good thing. Maybe I'll choose an evil male first this time...

Well, sure... I notice. I try to give my character good equipment too. But the question was, "do people just sit and stare?", as a sort of response to the oft-said, "If I'm going to stare at an ass all day, it may as well be..."

I know the feeling. Most RPGs seem designed for the 'good male' run-through, and while DAO still caters to that approach, it had some pleasantries for the ladies (namely, Alitsair
Still bugs me how Light-side male became canon for KotOR, though.

I like stories with strong ( hot ) female protagonists, plus I like to create "against-the-mold" characters. So, I'll probably go with a female warrior templar on my first playthrough.
It also depends on how easy it is to make a reasonably attractive looking male character. In Origins, I couldn't for the life of me create a decent looking male. They all looked like neanderthals....lol. So, I strictly played as female characters in Origins......

Actually, I tend to play the women a few times first, and they tend to be good. My first evil playthrough is always male. I feel too guilty otherwise.
Also, wow, look at those numbers...
