hey... so i've figured out how to open and edit items (open local copy) but i can't save a local copy. so i figured i would have to export the item (sword) first, but when i do that all sorts of data seems to be lost when i edit the exported file, for example the name and description which are changed to TBD (which i assume means To Be Described) and i also can't open up that properties menu anywhere when i open said file. So what I want is to edit a couple of items already in the game and have them replace the originals. Please help?

ie how do i edit an item already in the game and save it so that its properties in-game are changed?

i have looked for a tutorial on this but could only find ones that show how to create and edit an item, not answer the above question -_-

Instead of 'open local copy,' use 'checkout.' Then when you're done editing, save and export.

Thanks. How do I edit an item that is put into the game by a mod? I've found the .uti file, but when i open it in the toolset i get a different window, where i can't edit the properties.

You would need to get a builder to builder file from the mod's creator to use the toolset item editor. This basically lets you import information from their copy of the database; a file exported for the game can't be edited in the same way.

Thanks for your help. I wonder if it is possible to change an item's stats in a .uti by using a hex editor... all i want is to change some simple class restrictions on items.

Looks like I have found out how to do it, and change any other effects too. just make a uti yourself with the properties you want on another item, then open the uti file in the toolset and copy the propertyID and propertypower values to the other uti file, et voila.
