After the news hit me (and that's always at least a week after everyone else knows) I consider buying Awakening.
The things is, I hear so much bad news about bugs and import problems that I'm slightly hesitant. I assume Awakening fits under 'Other Campaigns' in the starting screen? So it doesn't mess with your original game? Still, I keep hearing stuff that people don't get romance acknowledgement, have the wrong ruler or be accused of something they didn't even do in Origins.
So is there much truth to that? I wouldn't want to play as an Orlesian warden anyway.

It's been patched. So the plot elements should behave properly. And it doesn't mess with your original files.

It's enough content that I'd suggest trying it out, even if it does require a little suspension of disbelief, sometimes.

I'm still holding off on purchasing Awakening. I would have if the storyline had more to do with Origins but sadly, it does not. The reviews were terrible and those who have played it (and love Origins for the same reasons I do) said Awakening was a huge disappointment. I think I'm done with DA:O, Bioware chose not to continue with Origin's storyline so I won't be spending my money on anything else unless it is worthwhile. I am certain DA:2 will have little/nothing to do with the Origins storyline so I will not be buying or playing it; no interest.

Well, since expectations are so low, it can only be better than expected...

I see Dragon Age more as a universe (I think Final Fantasy is even more "disjointed", though I don't know much about that) where a lot of different stories happen. (Neverwinter Nights and its sequels had different storylines, too). Maybe some day someone will write a "real" sequel to DA:O, maybe not. Of course, we all liked the characters from DA:O, and our own Warden(s), but hopefully, after a letdown in Awakenings, BioWare will realize where the strenght of DA lies...

BTW, Witch Hunt seems to be the sequel/conclusion to the DA:O storyline, from what I've read...

MARVIN_ARNOLD- Yes Witch Hunt is to be the 'conclusion' to our Warden's story and the end of Origin's storyline. I will bet money it is going to be useless garbage, just like all of the other substandard expansion/DLC follow up material. Bioware will give us an.... 'Epic conclusion to our Warden's storyline'... with a 1 hour DLC? Oh, please. DA:O was such an awesome game; I am just so irritated that Bioware (or EA) is just throwing away the potential to expand upon Origin's endgame storyline (so much storyline to expand upon) and wants to simply focus on DA:2. I know for certain DA:2 will be nothing epic and will be quickly forgotten as Awakening was. There are plenty of other games out there I will spend my money on. Game developers need to make games that their consumers want - and not tell them what what they want

In defense of Awakening, I have been playing it for the last couple of days. While it's not as epic as Origins, I find it quite good. The NPCs are believable, the quest lines are fine as well. I find the difficulty level (I rolled a fresh rogue) a bit on the low side and, assuming the game continues to hold my interest, I plan to replay it with one of my saved Origins characters on a higher difficulty level.

I've played through it once on hard; it was-in spots. I agree with the guy above me that's the quality is

comparable to origins, it just doesn't hit all the high points.

I've had problems with certain quests, a medical necessity doesn't recognize I picked up the supplies making it impossible to complete, same thing occurs with Ines the Botanist and Last Wishes

I see that no one in this topic actually has Awakening... XD
I played it on my friend's 360 with my initial character about a month ago. I lost interest after I encountered glitches that made it impossible to progress the story. I would buy it for the Mac though, community efforts steadily mend such glitches, AND purchasing it would hopefully encourage TransGaming to make DA2 available at launch. Or at least announce a date for it.
