I hated it! I found it so frustrating. Surely I'm not the only one. It took creepy and frustrating to a whole new level, just looking at the Black city gave me chills and running around flying rocks looking for someone who isn't trying to kill me all whilst battling ethereal darkspawn and demons....*Sobs quietly*. I love the game and the game world. I just prefer to experience Thedas outside the Fade, in reality.

I like the fade. I think it was implemented poorly, but I also think it has potential.

I hate the Fade, i always travel to Circle of the Magi after Lothering just to finish the Fade as soon as possible, then i can enjoy the entire game.
btw, i can endure it no longer, i have just installed a mod !

Orgins Fade was extremely boring, I enjoyed Awakenings Fade sequence much more.

How repetitive. If I'm not mistaken you have already voiced this out many times, Dante. Why do it again?

Uh this is only the second time I've mentioned it. I think I briefly mentioned it in a thread ages ago but this is only the second time sooo... Its not that repetetive, sorry if it offends you or something.

I really disliked the Fade in DA:O. It added unecessarily length to the Tower segment, and contributed nothing to the plot. At least the deep roads had storyline significance.

This is true, I was missing my Party in Orgins. But not wynne I Leave her to suffer in her nightmare, which is the most time wasting, and extremely anoyying.

The first playthrough I really liked it, the second I actually stopped playing while i was there. For subsequent plays I just used that mod that lets you skip it :) .

The Fade is an important part of Dragon Age. Without it, the game simply isn't Dragon Age.

You don't have to like it, but that is a fact!

they could have made it more dream-like where you see the settings change around you according to who's dreaming nearby or due to a presence of spirits or demons, instead of static goo filled plains.

Well, there is a "Skip-the-Fade" Mod that you can use to miss all those times when you have to run around in the maze.

Why do so many people dislike the fade portions of the game? I found it really well done and fun. Was it the graphic filter you saw everything through?

I actually enjoyed The Fade sequence, it added to the Broken Circle quest, without that segment I actuallty think it would have been to short. Plus you get permanent bonuses to your stats, and to shapeshift to a Golem I found very enjoyable. Just my opinion though.

MotB's Plane of Shadows/Astral plane sequence was much better. The Fade is too colourful but the idea was really good, especially the different forms and the rewards(stat bonuses!). I'd like something like that again in DA2.

What no the graphics were fine, I just disliked how it didn't really affect the plot and was repetetive.

it's one of my favourite parts of the game, what's supposed to be boring about it? boring is to start at one point and advance in a straight line killing things until you reach the end. In the fade at least there were places you couldn't access unless you had done other things before, places you had to revisit... a bit more of variety.

And of course there's the music, which was great.

I think though, that a more surreal touch would be welcome.

I liked the Fade sequences. While I'm aware of the mod that allows you to skip the Tower Fade sequence, I've never bothered to get it, even though I've played the Fade bit more than fifteen times with different characters. IMO, forcing the PC to complete it mostly alone allows the character to come into their own as a hero, especially if done early in the game. I thought the Fade sequence in Awakening was lacking in that there was nothing inherently new about it compared to the previous Fade stuff, so it was just another area.

I liked the fade too. My favorite part of the game. I think people find it boring mostly because it is sort of a maze. That and the fact that it's the part of the game where you actually have to think.

Gaider said we'll be seeing less of the Fade in DA2. So... there, you got your wish (at least partly).
