In my opinion The Fade is an important part of Dragon Age. The sequences don't have to be as long as the one in the Circle Tower and they don't have to involve shapeshifting, but it would make no sense to ignore The Fade completely.

I disagree the search for Andraste's Ashes was great, would have been better if they had not existed, but the Gaurdsmen revealing companion truth from companion lie was great like telling Leliana that her vision is just a creation for attention was epic! I about fell out when he told her that. Brecilian Forrest was good insight into the dalish elves, and a good story with that particular Keeper. All of the levels were lengthy, but some had more depth of info to their culture, or the world. The Fade also had this, but it was just made to tedious. Even on a quick runthrough that **** takes at least an hour, maybe 45 minutes. The Fade dungeon didn't reveal too much about The Fade...it was what it said it was The Fade, it looked like it sounded. I think the small doses onThe Fade work better such as Connor's demon time was perfect.

it would be more interesting if you could explore more of your party member's dreams than having the fade puzzle. a different setting for different companions.

Not to ignore or remove The Fade.
To improve it, or make it shorter at least.

I completely agree 3 levels that you fight through to get to your allies perfect~! I can live with that, but the b.s. of double running islands to unlock my allies dreams was just too much. That would have been more acceptable having 3 different settings based on your companion's dreams.

well I like the fade part but it have potential to be so much better then it was in Orgins.

Awekenings fade part for example was much better then Orgins, but it could be made even better.

I hated it! I found it so frustrating. Surely I'm not the only one. It took creepy and frustrating to a whole new level, just looking at the Black city gave me chills and running around flying rocks looking for someone who isn't trying to kill me all whilst battling ethereal darkspawn and demons....*Sobs quietly*. I love the game and the game world. I just prefer to experience Thedas outside the Fade, in reality.

But your description sounds like a good thing. *is puzzled*
I liked the fade, but I liked it better in Origins than Awakening, when it was more distorted and unreal.

The Fade is important part of the game. Just needs to be implemented better.

In my opinion, the fade sequence was a welcome change and refreshing in the games overall game-play style during my very first play through.  I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it was in subsequent playthroughs. Since DA2 will be shorter, it's most likely the fade phase, (if there will be one at all) I expect would be relatively shorter, and indeed an important inclusion as others say.

This seems like the worst possible argument for not including the Fade. It's creepy and dangerous? Dealing with that kind of thing is the job, if you're playing the hero.

Edit: looks like errant_knight beat me to this.

I wasn't trying to be the hero. I was a sadistic coward who was conscripted because of Duncan. Like I said I like the Fade in that I think its a good challenging section of the game, its just sooooo frustrating, well it was for me.

I would think with complaints on the Deep Roads and Fade sequence, that bioware would find a better way of doing. I enjoyed Awakening version of the Fade, I hope they go more in depth with that version instead of the pseudo-platform version in DAO.

Your character deserves to have bad things happen to him if he's a sadistic coward. No sympathy from me.

None wanted. He stabbed people in the back, he was selfish. Ruthless, pragmatic yet quick to flee from losing a situation.
Edit- All he needs is Morrigan his love and his family (or whats left of it)...f**k everyone else :D.

For me The Fade parts of the game were mostly enough to make me queasy due to the graphical filter that was used. It played havoc with my eye sight and made me almost throw up a few times.

An improved filter for The Fade so that it isn't so nausa inducing would be nice for DA2 and any other games in the series, as well as DLC.

Do tell of your char's backstabbing, like some of examples as I found it hard to play any character bad as most of the bad options seemed so drastic, like killing the that gaurd in the kocari wilds.

Nothing wrong with drastic backstabbing. As the famous saying goes "**** happens". I needed gear so I took it from the wounded dalsih hunters in the forest. I didn't enjoy it no, but it needed to be done. Brother Genitivi was taken out, a knife to the back of his head. He was a nice enough person, Dante respected him (dante was a bit of a history nerd) but he was a loose end. Kolgrim, the dragon, the guardian and genitivi all died on the mountain that day (side with kolgrim-destroy the ashes, kill the guardian and leliana or wynne if there in your party or not already dead. Then turn on Kolgrim, then summon dragon and kill it, then kill genitivi). To be known as the one who destroyed the ashes (Dantes beleif system was similiar to Morrigans so he did not care for the ashes and thought it was as Sten described "A waste basket" or something along those lines) would be a grave mistake.

Dante saw it that in a situation like this you have to be cruel to survive. There's simply no other way. He wasn't evil, like I didn't set out to be. Its just kind of how his character evolved. he went from this quiet mild mannered noble to this revenge fuelled sociopath who concentrated more on killing Howe than ending the Blight. He killed Nathaniel for bearing the Howe name as he would any other Howe, he would exterminate them all for the sins of there father.

I quite liked it, actually. Though after the first two times it got tedious. Perhaps if they changed the scenery a bit? I liked how my character was thrown into Cania in Hordes of the Underdark. It actually felt like another world I could immerse myself in. The fade sequence in the tower was exactly that, a sequence. An arc you just had to finish and be done with. It felt manufactured and I thought the timing was a little off too.

Well I liked the fade the first time I played it but after third and fourth time it got so tedious and boring that I had to download a mod to skip it.

Origins Fade was incredibly boring and frustrating, but Awakening Fade was actually very enjoyable. I suppose I'm ok with more Fade, as long as it's done Awakening-style.

The developers have been told loud and clear what they need to hear

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FADE AS DESIGNED

That washed out look is simply not working..it is jarring to the eye...players basically have to force themselves through it.

If you are going to crate an otherworldly dream realm, at least make it pleasant to look at.

Hopefully the new art direction in DA2 affected the fade as well
