I liked the fade. On the other hand the deep roads felt so boring.

The problem with the origins Fade, imo, is that it came right after a long dungeon crawl. So we kinda got two dungeon crawls forced on us, one after another, and that made it extremely boring. It would have been much better if it was placed somewhere else/implemented differently.

Same with the Deep roads. Go to area A (dungeon crawl), go to area B (dungeon crawl), go to area C (dungeon crawl), etc... I hope they don't learn too much from Mass Effect 2, but one thing is the pacing. The pacing in ME2 felt great, you fight for 10-15 mins, talk for a few mins, fight, talk, fight, research, investigate, etc...

I don't skip the Fade for mainly two reasons. First, for some bizarre reason I get about 60 points in total from those 21 essences. Especially the very first, the cunning essence in Darkspawn Invasion. It gives me 10 cunning. It's just too good to skip.

Second, the crazy mages. They're hilarious, and a good fight, too. There's this group of five who talk about a bet which the one who hurts the most wins. I love sneaking in the middle of them in mouse form, then switching to burning man and standing there, watching them blast themselves to death. Priceless.

Fade has its fun moments, but I admit it grows impossibly tedious.

I don't know how I feel about the Fade. I liked it the first playthrough, but after that, I just want to get it over with! I do like all the extra points it gives me, and I like playing the other team member's nightmares. But, I don't like how much time it takes me to get through it. It's a "love-hate" relationship for me!

The Origns Fade section was a bit of a trial, to be sure. However, it's confusing elements were obviously intentional as it was attempting to recreate the kind of off-kilter, meandering structure of dreams and nightmares. Alot of folks believe that the Fade is supposed to be the Spirit World, and it is too a degree, but remember that in the Universe of Dragon Age it also serves as the Dream-Realm. As such, everything is going to be a bit Alice in Wonderland, though far darker and covered in spooge-like substances. I don't know about anyone else, but that's a Nightmare to me.

All that aside, I believe the Devs and Writers anticipated just how frustrating it might get for some, and for that reason rewarded those who could maintain thier focus and take they're time with the Fade via locating all the stat bonuses. This was a huge plus for me, especially as a Mage given that nearly all of my points had to be alloted to Magic and Willpower. The cunning bonuses were especially useful given my diplomatic approach to many quests.

I will however agree that the Awakening Fade sequence is much easier as it's somewhat shorter and permits you some company. Should the Fade return for DA2 it's likely BioWare will take the Awakening Approch as opposed to Origin's. Overall, I really loved the concept of the Fade, and of being in a place where there were so many incredible secrets to unravel, the least of which being the Black City.

One of the coolest moments is if you take Shale with you into the Circle Tower to eventually have her pulled into the Fade. The island where she is located is the nearest you get to the Black City in the entire game, and you can almost make out all the details on the twisted spire and shattered sections. It's been strongly hinted that the Darkness behind the 'spawn resides there, and I know I'm looking forward to reaching it in some form or another; though it's likely we won't get anywhere near that point until DA3 or beyond.

I love the Fade and I think it is one of the best, if not the single best concept and level design in all of DAO.

However, I did not like the shape-shifting puzzles. I think many people would like the Fade a lot more if they did not associate it with the shape-shifting puzzles.

So in short, Please give us lots of new Fade without the shape-shifting puzzles.

Fade was the best

I'd play a game that happens only in the fade

or pretty much only half inside the fade

Fade drove me nuts. Period. The end. It was okay the first time, but after that, having to backtrack between all the dreams with the various forms just for the points (which my OCD would not let me leave without) got on my nerves. If we have to go again in 2, at least let it have less backtracking. It started feeling like a MMO timesink, and when I found the Skip the Fade mod (which gives you all the points you'd get from those essences, btw :P) I did not hesitate in the least in installing it.

Now I can actually be bothered to make more than one character.

The Fade sequence in the Circle Tower was nightmarishly tedious and dragged on for far too long. Everytime I replay DA:O I always try to get it done as quickly as possible. I hope Bioware learned from this.

The Fade in Awakening was better than in Origins. Partially because it felt like part of the Blackmarsh rather than an annoying filler level with a gimmicky mechanic that had little to nothing to do with the dungeon you already were in.

So I don't mind if there's a Fade sequence... as long as it's not like the one in Origins.

The Fade in Awakening was much better than Origins.

It had the most non-linear level design anywhere in the game, and it forced the PC to solo unexpectedly even if he hadn't been designed for it.

I do the Fade sequence early for the free bonus attribute points. That and its neat to have dream powers. I could take on Fredrick, Arl of Kreuger.

They did it twice (three if you count the books) already. It's gonna get cliche if they do it in all the games and books, so I think they'll let it rest for a while.

The fade was boss the second time around. The first time it was a horror show... especially against those mages with no arcane horror form... So I say: bring it back.

OP says no more fade sequences I cant disagree more. It was not my favorite part of DAO, but it has a purpose. I like that fact that the devs went for something unique and  out of the ordinary.

The surreal dreamlike atmosphere was a good touch . It has its good points and bad points but to completely omit  the fade would be a mistake.

I liked the Fade, a lot more then Orzammar. Going through so many loading screens on basically fetch quests gets boring after awhile.

Besides there is still so much to explore in the Fade. Would love to see the Black City.

The only purpose it had was lengthening an already fairly long dungeon. It had apsolutely no storyline significance at all.

I like the fade, have played it 3 or 4 times and still enjoy it. That solo dynamic and the ability to switch abilities is fun. Sten's dialogue when you go to fetch him is interesting, if anyone hasn't tried it.

I enjoyed the Fade and the Deep Roads, but after the second time around, the Fade became a complete chore.

As long as it's well implemented next time around, I look forward to another visit.
