Greetings fellow community,

I'm going to start a large project for Dragon Age in the future and will be creating a long campaign with 100% voiceovers of not only the player character, but NPCs as well.

So here's my question:

As the campaign will exist of hundreds of different characters with all their different personalities and voices..I'll need not only good voice recording software, but something that can also add effects & alter the pitch.

I wouldn't worry about getting people who can provide these voices as I have a large network of people and friends whom hopefully will be able to assist me.

But I cannot get 100+ people together that's for sure, so in order to have variety I'll need to alter their voices for different kinds of characters. Posted Image

As for good microphones, I have a few, but anyone know of real professional, high quality ones that doesn't take in any background sounds, breathing etc?

Would be nice if someone from Bioware could offer their advice regarding this as well, even though I doubt you'd share what tools you used for your voice recording in DA:O. Posted Image

Thank you in advance.Posted Image

Which microphones do you have?

If you're worried about background noise, avoid ribbon mics unless you have the time/energy/software to do some scrubbing, or have/can build a fairly effective isolation booth.

Adobe makes an audio app called Audition. You can trial it for 30 days like any Adobe apps, I reckon.

I'm using the lame WAV editor that comes with Nero :(

also, GWJ had a cool writeup about how they do their podcast, and it includes some good tips for recording in general...

Audition is cheap, powerful, and reliable.  Definitely worth a look.

"Audacity" is also the free sourceforge app they mention in the GWJ link i gave. I may grab that, because nero's wave edit sucks
