I noticed that some of the props in a level I'm working on were overly bright (this is at the level...level...so I didn't think it was the same thing as doors placed in the area editor being overly bright), particularly prp_furdoor. After some playing around with the lights in the level, I determined that it was being caused by the light probe. Take the light probe away, and the super brightness on the prop melts away.

Is there is a way to prevent a prop from being so bright by the presence of the light probe? Or is that a reflective property baked into the model itself?

sounds like somethings up with the fresnel map or something. this is on the fringe of my understanding, but you could try and figure out what the fresnel map looks like and maybe try reducing the RGB or alpha brightness? or open the MAO file and i think you can use a fresnel multiplier and reduce that?

Or you could render your lightprobes and place the prop after that and see if the effect is still there.

At risk of straying off-topic, did anyone ever find a way of stopping doors from being too bright?

I tried upping the brightness of the ambient light, that seemed to work somewhat. Not sure if rendering light probes first would work since the toolset renders them automatically on posting, right? With that said, I haven't tried it yet.
