There's still that sceenshot going around from rise to power trailer with what looks like all 3 hawke siblings running through kirkwall. Just becuse they both can't be compamions doesn't mean it a definite 1 will die.

I hadn't planned on posting in any fan threads, but now that we've learned there won't be a Bethany run for a PC mage, I'm dropping by to mourn.  I didn't even know I was looking forward to that, but I guess I was.

If Hawke is a warrior or a rogue you get to keep Bethany. If HAwke is a mage you keep Carver.

The article is correct. You'll get  Bethany if Hawke is a rogue or warrior (regardless of gender), and  Carver if Hawke is a mage.

Having a preset mom charater follow you around is going break immersion more so than a sibling

Yeah I'm not in favour of the way the decision plays out either, now I'm hoping that despite her being optional Bethany could still play a key role in the main plot - it would mean some big changes between playthroughs depending on your class but who knows?



Still, sucks that my Mage Hawke won't be able to have the Mage bond with Beth, but luckily I was planning on playing a rogue first anyway.



I've posted comments like this a few times now, and I've just realised it probably seems very anti-Carver. I actually have nothing against him, but Bethany has caught my eye more, particularly in the early version of the Lothering escape, and I love the idea of having a little sister around. /bias.

Well, I'm not saying that Carver Hawke is garbage or anything, but the idea that your class determines which companions you get is just so stupid!



Imagine if in Origins you didn't get Leliana if you were a rogue, or that if you were a mage you only got one between Wynne and Morrigan... ugh!

But I don't hate the idea that much, really. It'll add to replayability.

If I understood David GAider correctly you need one apostate in the party due to story reasons. 2 would be too much.

How do we know Hawke and Bethany are apostates?
Maybe the circle just let's them leave to see their mum on occasion?

It's been confirmed that Bethany is an apostate and so is Hawke.

Circle doesn't exactly let mages leave to travel around whenever they wish, unless there's a good reason for it like joining the king's army against darkspawn or helping a Grey Warden out.

Hmm, that actually sounds mildly interesting. I suppose if the story justifies it then I can live with it. I mean, I WILL have to live with it, but if there's a genuinely good justification for this it'll be a less bitter pill to swallow.

Well, you could give Morrigan a different robe if you really wanted her to fit in better. But the truth is that Morrigan stuck out due to having little to no experience with human society, so she didn't know how to act or fit in.

Kind of like how a Dalish Elf or a Dwarf might feel out of place in Ferelden.
