Bioware rarely write duds. Thane in ME2 has a strong following, but I am totally indifferent to him. Fenris here has a huge and devoted fan base, the biggest on the forum, and again I am not in the slightest bit interested. I could not care less about the character. Clearly though he has strong appeal for many. Could be the same with Bethany, Carver, or any other character. You're only getting one reviewer's opinion.

Those two aren't comparable. We haven't even seen much of Fenris. You can't judge his character off the little we know.

With Thane, you can ME2 has actually been released.

I agree. And given my track record with eschewing the wackier, superhero-type characters and embracing the more grounded, normal, and easily-relatable ones, this just encourages me that I am going to like her.

I wonder how survivor guilt will affect both Bethany & Carver?, after all it's going to be there regardless of who survives.

Also I think I saw it mentioned in the Carver thread that their mother will have some reservations to taking him on dangerous missions, I'd imagine that the same will be true for Bethany so there's plenty of room for family conflict and intrigue there, given that we have to take in both our own feelings as Hawke, as well as Leandra and Bethany/Carver.

Bethany's and Carver's voice actors are crystal clear here, so our voice actor sleuths better get to it!

demo restrictions:

- no inventory access

- graphics locked at medium/console quality. Higher detail is DX11 exclusive. (probably some DX10 features too, doesn't specify)

The main reason I am posting this here is because :wizard:Bethany:wizard: has many lines in it.  So if anyone wants to figure out her VA or just listen to her speak, then they can watch this.

For convenience, I have listed the main times she speaks just in case people want to just listen to her instead of watching other things.  But beware, you may still see spoilers of scenes you don't want to see.  However, this is just the beginning of the game. 

Lines from Bethany:

In Part 1:

Anyway, I think that is all the times she speaks.  I like her voice a lot.  Then again, I haven't heard a voice so far in DA2 that I don't like.  But I am easy to please in this regard.

She sounds alot like Petra from the Circle Tower...though i could be wrong...especially considering her voice isn't easy to pick up as opposed to Leandra's( Momma Hawke's)...

Still I do think chavs would have made for an interesting choice, if they hadn't stuck on their current incarnation of the darkspawn.

Urgh I went to bed late last night thinking that I'd wake up to some VA reveals after that video, but still only the same speculation.

This leads me to believe that there might be a big reveal in the works although they did seem to reveal Sebastian (Alec Newman) and Varric (Brian Bloom) in a somewhat non-chalant fashion once someone had guessed them correctly, maybe the actors mentioned so far are incorrect?.

If those were my two choices for Bethany's VA, I would say she sounds more like Petra.  But I wouldn't be surprised if it is neither of them.

Can I join this fan thread?  I'm actually really looking forward to playing with a sister and having that dynamic in the game.  Her voice actress sounds fabulous, and I love how she said "mother maker" when meeting Westley.  I think she has a subtle sense of humor and I think she will be fabulous.  She and Aveline really made an impression on me in the demo!

They've also very indirectly confirmed Gideon Emery as Fenris, but I guess anyone who knows the man would recognize that voice.
