I saw that in the leaked demo gameplay (the HD one), we can see Bethany's ability trees but so far I didn't notice any that seemed unique to her. What could it be? I guess something fire related as in the cinematics she always uses fire.

I think I read that some companions might not have all the talent trees available to them due to plot reasons.  Perhaps the siblings don't have uniques talent trees for a specific reason.

Although I would really like it if at least our siblings could do some unique things.  A whole tree would be nice, but if not then maybe just some unique talents.  And I imagine Bethany's would be with fire.  My impression of her has been more of a fire/primal magic mage

I don't get the idea of posting in a character's support thead if you intend to not support them.  I guess people just like their opinions being heard.  I don't mind it that much personally, since I like debating and seeing other opinions on something I like, but trolling in general or just trying to spoil people's enthusiasm is not something I am a fan of.

EDIT:  YAY!  I was the first post on page twenty.  I wasn't expecting that.  :happy:

The non-sibling companions seem more popular. Plus with the whole 'One has to die' thing it means some people won't have that particular sibling for their playthrough.

If Bethany was not a sibling and was romanceable, imagine the feedback this thread would get.

I plan on having Bethany come along during my first playthrough.

On the contrary I would be quite open to criicism of the character so long as it is well thought out and not mere trolling, I would quite like to discuss the characters motivations, beliefs and weaknesses.

Honestly, I don't care about the non-romancable thing. Having a sibling as a companion should be interesting. And so far from what I've seen of her personality it should be interesting. She seems like she'd have a lot of interesting conversations with other mage companions. She clearly has no love for Templars with good reason much like Anders.

Well, if you go by the trend of threads in this forum, you'd think the only reason one plays rpgs is to sleep with people. It would blow my mind if I didn't have a very cynical and prejudiced view of the people I am chatting with on the internet.

So, my point was that we should be ashamed that thread apperciation seems to be linked to "bangability", so to speak. ;p 

Anyways, I'm half replying to your post just to help poor Bethany get some more love (page counts).

Well, true enough. It does some people are more concerned with who they can 'bang'

Honestly I don't mind the whole romance thing especially if it can add something to the story. But simply because you can't sleep with that character doesn't mean they won't be a good character. I'm actually rather interested to see how the sibling relationship between non-mage Hawke and Bethany will play out. I'm sure on my non-mage play through I'd be protecting her from any Templars that think they can come after her for being a mage.

But also we haven't really seen much of Bethany. Besides what's in the Demo videos before that we had only seen screenshots of her, which isn't much to go on other than we know she's a mage. Her personality so far I think works well. As well as Anders I'm wondering what sort of interaction she might have with Merrill.

Yes, well not all characters need to be romancable. Also some I imagine having your character romance his sister would be a bit awkward. Especially at family reunions.

But as I said earlier as a companion it'll be interesting to see what part she'll play in the story. Especially with the whole Templars being after mages thing.

We'll know we've reached a new generation of fantasy rpgs when your companions become your best friend through the course of adventure rather than wanting to jump your bones.

A well written npc that shows this development over the course of a game would be far more satisfying than some cheesy music and stilted 10 s underwear scene. But, I realize there's a market for that type of thing (cheesy music and underwear sex).

Anyways, back to Bethany. I get the impression she's a bit snarky, much like Lady Hawke herself. I guess we'll see.

That was pretty much the impression I got from the demo leaks I watched...atleast where the templars n possibly the chantry is concerned...

I noticed in the latest video of Bethany's spell tress, she lacks the primal tree( which is earth n lightning elements)...which is fine in my case... I was gonna keep her focused on fire n ice n spirit types anyway...so it works out... though I do wonder what her personal spec will be...

lol...  Nobody said they wanted incest.  Well, maybe somebody else might have.  I meant... if she wasn't Hawke's sister...
