Ok when does that hug come in at, the final battle?

I'm torn to let Beth become a Warden OR join the Circle? She seems from convos the Circle is better? Does she come back in the end if she's not a warden?

I only got the hug when i put bethany in the circle, then sided with templars, murdered orsino, but then protected bethany from meredith. I've never gotten the hug anywhere else.

It was worth it slaughtering all those mages just for a hug

damn, gotta side with templars for a hug ?? "summon bethany hug" should just be an ability like "summon mabari", gotta press bioware for that patch sometime soon.

Should i use warrior hawke or mage hawke?

up to you, I'll have to try it myself sometime soon. I think I'm gonna console Bethany in like you said once Carver gets deep roads'd, I'm gonna try and add her in with act 1 outfit though.

You said she was a mute, but if you right click her during random walking around she still has little comments right? Were you hopeful that you might find hidden dialogue ME2 style where a character was, in the early stages, intended to be there but were later written out? I'd have to scream at whoever decided "nah bethany should exit stage left early on" if that were the case.

In act 1 most of her dialogue still works. She also comments on quests and there are bethany specific options (like asking her to help you with the blood mage idunna).

There are a few specific things that only work with carver, like talking to bartrand and talking to mother.

She goes silent in act 2 and 3. She has click-on comments (when you directly click her) and the usual battle cries but that's it, she is otherwise mute, doesn't make comments on kirkwall locations or during quests. No party banter as far as i can remember. So if there was an alternate game bioware wiped it completely.

Oh well, she's still handy at melting faces


I think though if you keep her act 1 outfit the game might not recognize her as circle-bethany so those scenes won't activate. You won't get the hug in that case:crying:.

Never specifically tested that myself though so i could be wrong.

She's the best character in a BioWare game since Liara from the "first" ME, actually I think Bethany tops her in niceness. She gives me a hard time when I'm trying to kill some lowlifes in game but have keep checking on her to see if there's no one bugging her during fights. Actually I have everyone set to defend her at anytime, Varric, Isabela, Aveline, Anders, Merril even that annoying jerk Fenris...

I had her becoming a Warden,(I wish I could too) I didn't want her no where near the Circle, when I get to open a can-of-whoop ass on them, specially the jerk who was helping Leandra's killer...

maybe she's thinking in her head: 

"OMG! my older sibling steamrolled a bunch of qunari, pummeled the arishok in single combat, now she's slaughtered all my mage friends, cut through a legion of demons and abominations while doing so and just tore apart Orsino with her bare hands!! WHATS WRONG WITH HER?!?!?!... oh wait... maybe she just wants a hug ever since mom died..."

Bethany's so sweet she probably would be thinking that. Carver on the other hand would be: "Pfft... show off..."

Really? How come that jerk could be more popular than Bethany? I absolutely hated Hawke's brother, he's an "S" always stepping on traps and screwing everyone, always with his bad comments towards Hawke, he's a jerk...I wish I had the option to beat the crap out of him since our Hawke is the older brother.

Funny story actually, its actually "bethany" with white hair and blue eyes and lighter skin tone.

I spent a jackload of time creating a bethany twin with my main hawke.

But after playing her once i kept getting disturbed watching "Bethany" speak with different voices, the clothes were different but it was still messing with my head. So i changed her hair/eyes/skin to make someone that was still clearly bethany's sister, but not bethany.

So basically that's what bethany would look like if made in the character creator and then switched with white hair, blue eyes and lighter skin tone.

Maybe i'll post the bethany twins screenshot some time.

In my play-through, Carver went to Ostagar and Bethany and Female Hawke stayed in Lothering talking about shoes with Leliana and playing I-Spy with Sten.    (Hint:  My Hawke was a mage)

How did you get a mage Hawke without Bethany die at the start?

I modded the game and put Bethany back in.

Surprisingly most of the game still functions perfectly well since there are no real conflicts with having two mage siblings. Even Bethany's dialog (like the feyneriel quest) still triggers. Just the specific parts, like when you talk to bartrand, or go home to gamlen's house, requires that carver be in.

The codex says that Bethany and Leandra (and Hawke if she's a mage) stayed behind in Lothering since mages can't join the army.
