True but it's a shame they couldn't bring them back for all of Act 3 at least.

True but it's a shame they couldn't bring them back for all of Act 3 at least.

There could've added have an option to storm the Gallows and free her/have Warden Bethany quit the Wardens Anders style (but without ending up as an abomination...
Of course they could've also added an option to kill Cullen (sorry dude) and his Templar buddy and then have to hide Bethany somewhere untill Act 3 where you could get her back as a party member since then you're the Champion, if Meredith allows Anders (an Abomination), Merill (a Blood Mage) and Mage Hawke (possible Blood Mage) to walk freely (and she knows that Anders and Mage Hawke are Mages) then I don't think she would mind letting Bethany (the only good Mage in the fricking game) walk freely, not that I would give her a choice.

Or they could've made it possible to visit her in the Gallows (could also apply to Templar Carver), just like your companions in their houses, even having one single conversation with her right after "All That Remains" would've been enough...

But nothing of that happend since you have two siblings so Bioware being known for how they handle choices in their recent games had to remove them ASAP... <_<

Now something else,
Am I the only one who reloaded the game right after Varric said "If she knew what would've happend she would've left her sister at home." right before the expedition? (I menaged to stay away from all spoilers)

I really like Bethany. This surprised me as she's a very bland character compared to the others. I can't help but feel that's part of her charm.

In a game where the PC WTFpwns everything, always wins, and is universally acknowledged as the most awesome thing ever (Mass Effect), a regular character doesn't add much. It's like being in a rock band - everyone needs to be a different shade of bigger than life.

In a game like DA II, it's much easier to appreciate a character who can be described as 'nice, polite, and good-hearted.' I think continuing the sibling relationships could have helped the game.

But there's never enough time/resources for everything, and I understand why BioWare would see Bethany and Carver as the most disposable companions.

I don't see how either of them could be more disposable than anyone else sans Varric, given that you can refuse the companionship of any of the other characters when you first meet them, Isabela can leave permanently in Act II if you're not careful, and you can execute Anders and get rid of Fenris during the game. At the very least, the relationship with your sibling is the most malleable, and you can get more out of it.

As for Bethany's character, she is kinda bland. I wish she had more moments like Carver did when you're talking about Bethany's death, with accusations and disagreements and such. The two of them just leisurely chatted as if they were 40-year-old siblings, not a young adult and a teenager.

I didn't see this thread but already posted, maybe you guys can help me.

My Circle Bethany seemed to like being in the Circle except for the one Templar baddie she stayed away from and I murdered. She was nice to me the whole game up to the circle and the letter.

When I run into her with Orsino and rescue her at end of Act 2, she's angry and bitter and I get 3 dialogue options, 2 of which are mean and angry to her. When I choose the nice one, she gives me bitter "That figures" replies. What is going on with this? Why did my loving sister turn bitter and why am I being given angry dialogue options to her? What did I flag or is it a bug?

As was explained in the other thread for you. She probably molded to you being cruel and doing the angry/fist conversations so that your character molded to cruel. The sibling molds to that and not your previous stance with them.

End of Act 2 Circle-bethany just sounded distant, but not angry. Warden bethany however is bitter and cold.

Both bethanys improve considerably in the end of  act 3.

I agree though end of act 2 circle-bethany was out of character compared to act 1 bethany. Warden bethany made more sense to be bitter/distant/cold.

Those modders are just bitter that the bethany they loved got ripped from them. So they create a less-lovable version of bethany to reduce the sting

I stole Alexein's pic becasue I'm not far enough in the PC version to take a screenshot of my own hug :crying:

I also discovered that you can get Bethany back into your party after Act 1 on the 360, you just need to do some hex editing, I will try it out tommorow. I don't know if it's possible on the PS3 though.

well in the modders' favor, if somebody could fix those damn fingers in act 1 I wouldn't mind :)

I don't know if Circle Bethany has them too? I know warden Bethany wears gloves so it didn't show

Alot of characters have them, I really have no idea how that texture made it into the final game....

I would guess that Circle Bethany still has them, but I'm not sure since I learned to ignore the hands in this game.

Here's a comparison of the hands, it depends on the pose and on the lighting, but circle bethany seems to have much better hands than free-bethany. (right click and "view image" for higher res)

Maybe the circle has some good cosmetic-magic... would also explain why bethany seems to have bigger.... robes...:innocent:
... It's safe to say her powers aren't going to her head

Her act 1 outfit is just really appealing for some reason. The circle one is more traditional but the act 1 robes really give off the "mommy made me these robes cuz I'm an apostate" robes without looking like some kind of crazy blood mage. Something other apostates can't seem to be able to pull off

My favorite character outfit by far, although Merill's alternate is pretty cool as well.

How do we improve upon bethany's portrait... adjust the brightness contrast and color vibrance ratios!

I thought the original portrait was a little too dark, it takes place at night in gallows so the lighting is understandable, but for a portrait we want better :)

I thought it was really random that Bethany was friends with Ser Tamra. It actually took me a while to remember who that even was exactly.

That Amaranthine noble who tells you about the anti-Warden conspiracy in Awakening, and ends up being murdered because of it.

Ser Tamra is a knight from Vigil's Keep that lets the W-C know about a conspiracy against the Wardens.

Bethany is pure concentrated sweetness. She'll win over Harbinger and the Reapers given enough time.

Sadly on PS3 you can't mod anything Posted Image Really miss Beth not in party as I'm starting to get more and more irritated by most of the other companions.  Apart from Varric and Aveline I can't be bothered with the others.

So I'm currently trying to make my Hawke look like the default Bethany face.  Using this http://social.biowar...93626/1#6826256 but still not able to get the nose correctly but will keep working on it.

What really bothered me, and the only thing that bothered me about Bethany is her lack of a specialization, otherwise she is one of my favorite companions and always found her way into my team. Her innocent nature in the first act is just brilliant, and her GW outfit looks great. BW really hit the mark when they made her.
