Do you think Bethany and Sebastian would make a good couple? I have been thinking of making a fan fiction in which, while Hawke is off in the deep roads. Sebastian goes to Gamlen's house looking for Hawke and finds Bethany. In short the two make a deal, she helps him find another clue about who killed his family (using mage powers or something...) and he pulls some strings for her so that she can join the circle without her family being punished.

Would you guys read something like that? Or am i missing something that would make this impossible?

That actually sounds like a great idea!

Although it sounds like Sebastian caused Bethany to go to the circle. This makes Sebastian less likable and more of a dick, getting her help and then turning her in.

Alternatively, If you want maybe Bethany is caught helping Sebastian and this prompts him to help her somehow. This puts him in a better light.

Of course its all up to you and how you portray them.

To me, Bethany seems very good natured. Sebastian comes off as Vengeful in Act 1, Devoted in Act 2 and some of act 3, then he's a dick after the chantry blows up (he threatens to burn down kirkwall just for one man.... wth?). So whatever portrayal you want to go with i suppose can be fitted into his known personality.

I for one would love fanfic with bethany,

I'm incapable of making it myself, my best efforts amount to "The dog run good" of literary masterpieces.

Sebastian is a decent enough guy, but I get the impression that he buys a bit too fully to Chantry dogma. That would mean, even if he wanted too, he couldn't be with Bethany. Either as a brother in the Chantry or as Ruler of Starkhaven with a mage wife.

Sebastian was too fanatical for me, not only in a religious way, also when he wants revenge. He and Bethany won't really work, especially since he doesn't seem to be a fan of Mages. Plus if he would be responsible for getting Bethany in the Circle then a certain very, very pissed off sister would march into the Chantry and cut him into pieces with her Greatsword right infont of the Grand Cleric.

I don't hate or like Sebastian, I don't really care about him, I just don't find his character really interesting. I don't think I would personally read a fic like that, but you should first think what you want when writing a fic. For me it's always important that I enjoy what I write, the amount of people who actually read my fic don't really matter too me. :wizard:

I wish I had any idea for a fic with Bethany, but I'm already working on a different crossover fic and most of my ideas only work with Sci-Fi anyway :pinched:

Well either way at the end of the game it sounds like he will return to Starkhaven, but I see what you mean though with the whole mage thing. Although being the sister of the champion of kirkwall might have some significance.

Also i meant to say that Bethany asks Sebastian to pull some strings for her with the circle. She wants to go to the circle.

Judging by Bethany's fear of templars, i think going to the circle might not be her first choice.

But like gashgfjaskgfkagh said, write it because you like it. :)

I'm pretty sure she thought about going to the Circle so her family wouldn't have to protect her anymore, but I don't feel like she would say something like that to Sebastian and that she would actually try to get in the Circle on pupose because then she might feel guilty that her family sacfrificed so muchto protect her and then suddendly she gave up.

On a sidenote, she's so adorable when she gets nervous around Templars

I was wondering, since they were poor before.... could bethany's outfit actually be a hand-me-down from sister hawke?

(same goes for carver if Bro-Hawke)

Maybe, I'm pretty sure though that Leandra made her those robes, I don't imagine something like that being sold in Lothering. Mayeb Leandra made it to protect her daughter? It does have patches of chainmail....

We know they were poor following the Blight. Not a lot in what their lives were like in Loathering, just that Bethany/PapaHawke/Mage!Hawke steered clear of Templars. They could've been fairly well off. You know, for peasants.

Beth was always nervous around Cullen. At least he was a cool guy, but I hated him when he took her to the Circle.

She was nervous around anything Templat related, even Templar recruits. But I don't understadn why she was so scared since you can spend the entire day activating Blood Magic nfront of Cullen adn he will just stand thee. Unless the plot demands or in Ser Welsey's case the Order Dictates nobody will ever realize you're a mage...
It still annoys me that in Act 3 even while you and your entire party are above the law Bethany is still stuck in the Circle, but I guess that **** Meredith wanted to have someone to use blackmail Hawke, she already does that in her first quest.

Yeah really. I mean I left a blood mage back in the alienage and they never found her. Yet my devout Andrastian sister, who would never dream of using forbidden magic is caught.<_<

Bah, Merrill's just another knife-ear. Unless she cuts her wrist in front of them. Bethany however, there's a quota at every Circle to have a pretty, kind mage girl for the Templars to fanboi over.

They found that crazy blood mage elf with the random casteless tattoo on his face. :P

I'm willing to go very far to suspend my disbelief for the sake of gaming... But that was completely shattered when Cullen directly addressed Anders as "....Mage!". I'm also pretty sure Anders and Cullen were in the circle at ferelden at about the same time. and Cullen never calls him in, but KNOWS he is a mage.

....and cullen takes away bethany...

(Violently wrings the air as if strangling cullen)

Lol felt the same way when Cullen is in the Hawkes house to take Bethany away and even though I picked the angry reply part of me wishes I could have started a fight with them.

I have a fanfic of which Bethany has a major part in.

It's called In Lothering and focuses on the Hawke family, Leliana and some other recognizable characters before the blight.

Ok so I'll stop with the heartless self promotion but I will say this.

Bethany got me out of my fanfic dry spell! :D
I <3 her. She makes me wish I had a little sister... (I have a little brother ... who's as lame as Carver... meh)

It's even worse, Meredith self calls Anders "Mage" :pinched:

I really wish I could've continued after Hawke said "Over my dead body!" but I guess Bioware needs Cullen for the story and he might have a bigger role in future DA titles so they had to keep him alive, but then they could've sent someone else for me to violently murder, but that's impossible since then something good would've happend with the Hawke family... <_<

So then what Hawke would have actually ment was "Over your dead body!"? :P

I liked Cullen in my previous two mage runs, (sad that I got more sympathy and support from Cullen then I did from my brother, both Templar and Warden versions<_< ) but seeing him take Bethany away... he was very close to being introduced to Violet's newly aquired Oath-Breaker.

Would it have been better if Ser Karras was the one to take Bethany to the Circle? At least she's safe with Cullen. He's Fereldan and a gentleman. And he was very polite, called her mistress, not even a witchspawn or a mage****. And he warned Hawke that he suspected her before the expedition. I took his warning, my Beth is a warden now. I'm not happy about it. Bethany is a gentle flower, and wardens sent her to the Deep Roads :( I wish there were other options. I'll leave her home next time to see if the Circle is a better for her.
It's sad that you can't talk to her or Carver in the Gallows, btw. Leandra can, but Hawke can't? I miss my siblings.

It wasn't so much who took her as much as she was taken. Yes, Cullen was one of the only two Templars Hawke would hesitate on flattening due to being actual decent guys who believe with the spirit of the Order.
I understand Circle!Bethany is generally more happy then Warden!Bethany, still haven't finished Violets game since the Arishok fight left a sour taste in my mouth. I hate having to resort to full on melee, but she just could not beat him one-on-one. ;_;
And yes, I annoyed me to no end that Leandra (heck, and Gamlen could see her. Hawke should've been the one to tell her sister their mother died. :(

Ouch, I imagine what my templar Carver would've said to my mage Hawke about Leandra's death. I'm glad Gamlen talked to him then. But Bethany? I'm pretty sure she needed a hug just as much as my Hawke :( And if Hawke got a hug from Anders, Beth got none :( Poor thing.
