Anyway this has been confirmed on Ustream.
Your sis can have a romance with a party member?
If I Heard correctly then yes. You have to understand I was to busy chuckling on how someone made him say "Do you have Mike Hawke Jokes in the office"

"So, why do you think you are good enough to be with my sister?"
"Well, I'm a nice guy."
"But can you swing a sword or cast spells?"
"W-well, no, but I am a master with a lute!"
"A lute!? Do you have any kind of job? Can you at least kill people for money?"
"Murder?! I'd never, murder is wro--"
"Get the hell out of my castle. I don't want to see you near my sister ever again."

while this may be fun, and I'm all for it, would it necessarily fit for what the devs want to tell?
I'm not sure why it wouldn't fit.

I'm thinking something more like an Aerie/Haer'Dalis fling, where both parties are capable of pursuing a natural relationship without a third party intervention. BUT, the fellow is a rascal and in the end Bethany is hurt. Unless his approval was high enough so Hawke had a positive influence upon him. Then things play out rather well.

I always think of Aerie when this topic comes up as well, but I usaly think of Minsc. That wasn't romantic, but it was a relationship that (sorta) developed alongside your own, and I loved it. So much so that in BG2 I refuse to have one of them in the party without the other.

Baldur's Gate was such a "grand" series and came far closer to roleplaying than any CRPG ever did, in my opinion. Sad to see tons of features used in those games have been abandoned completely.

I didn't even think about how approval on a party member could influence the relationship, good idea.Ortaya Alevli wrote...

Also if you are playing as a female character and you are both interested in the same character, maybe having a high enough approval will make her back down? And when it is to low it will result into a sibling fight.

I just thought of another interesting possibility. I know she probably won't play that big a part in the game, but what if someone starts putting the moves on your mother? That would probably make me just as angry, or perhaps just freaked out. "Stay away from him mother! That sodding nug-humper isn't worth your time!"

could be entertaining. I'd need to keep a save file there for a good laugh once in a while, especially if there's anything political (kinda like the landsmeet) in DA2.
