Poor Bethany... From what I have read to far she won't be getting a lot of romance.



Most of you are too overprotective. How whould one of you guyz react if Bethany went to your LI and sayd: Hey don't mess with my brother or I'll cut your breast's off!

I'm the younger brother of two sisters, so I never got the "over-protective older brother" thing. As long as the man (or woman) Bethany picks isn't a total scumbag that will hurt her, why should I freak out over who she shares her bedroll with?

It's pack survival instinct. Pack survival implies protecting packmates. Part of that protective instinct goes into keeping them safe from emotional damage. That means keeping scumbags away from them. Once the subject has been deemed adequate, the instinct recedes as it has been placated.

In most communities, females are generally viewed as more prone to be hurt emotionally. Add to that the usual "males take females under their wings" approach in man-woman relationships -sensual or familial, doesn't matter- and there you have it.

Not just Canadian men, I can tell you that.

Though I guess it has to do with the act of "protection" being viewed as a rather masculine role for God knows how many centuries. Its physical implications and all that. Sociological stuff that takes time to get into. Otherwise we all know you women are heartless monsters. hehe

I am looking forward to any comment or reaction by Bethany or Garret concerning the other one's romances. I'm sure there could be room for funny situations as well as very moving and emotional ones. Any one who has a sister and has a good relation to her knows about the teasing and supportive moments in life.
