other than Demon's souls, the ps3 has been really thirsty for some new rpg juice so there should be no reason why this game doesn't go platinum on this system

"Gone gold" in the video game industry means the game has been completed and is currently being manufactured... it has nothing to do with sales. But you all knew that, right?

Going platinum, I believe has to do with sales. "Gold" is like saying "we're ready to ship off". Though Bioware kind of delays it until they can make a big deal out of it.

If I remember correctly, gold refers to the gold colored (it's not necessarily gold anymore, they can make it whatever color they want) 'master' disc that developers send to the company that burns all those hundreds of thousands of copies and packages them up in lovely little boxes and ships them to distributors who ship them to stores who sell them to us as fast as they can so we don't trample them.
