This is lame. Why wouldn't they include female Qunari? I was hoping to have one as a teammate.

Existing lore which makes it horrendously difficult for us to catch a glimpse of a Qunari female outside of their native land and especially outside of their predesigned roles in life, perhaps?
Qunari females do not become warriors. As Sten would say, it is just not done. That isn't to say that they aren't capable of such feats, just that their society prevents women from taking up roles that are traditionally reserved for the men.
For those Qunari who choose not to follow traditional society it's possible, but they're pretty much reviled by their brethern.

Lore shmore. They passed up some intriguing story elements here.

Well just bare in mind that Qunarri refers specifically to a member of that race who follows the Qun. So if we didn't have a female member she would have to be a Tal'vahosh due to how regimented the social roles are within the Qun.

Yeah, I wondered about that, but I don't think Dave Gaider would be that...mm...not underhanded, but...not insidious, because he is that...I suppose plain misleading. He sure could be if he wanted to, but I can't recall him ever deceiving us by technicalities.

Lore shouldn't be an excuse when they essentially changed the look of the race, quite drastically too, from the first game.. I mean huge horns?  And if they're willing to change the visual definition of a race, might as well twist the existing lore a bit.. which they have anyway as Sten made no mention of being special in his culture for not having horns etc etc..

Yeah but Sten didn't talk much about the Qunarri period. Hell he flat out refused to most of the time. The most you got for him were occisionally comments during a conversation.

True, but I still think it would have been a great opportunity for a dramatic and refreshing character..  A Qunari female that has forsaken all of her people in an attempt to do what she wanted, not what her society told her she should do..

Despite the Qunari themselves would argue that Tal Vashoth don't count as Qunari, I think the term Qunari encompasses the entire race here. Countries/communities deport/expel/banish people all the time. That doesn't make them lose their racial traits or visual features. You saw a female Tal Vashoth, you saw a female Qunari. Appearance wise.

They have redesigned the race. If your problem is the horns, I'd say that the evidence of them existed in DAO to begin with, in the form of the ogres.

Personally, I'm glad for it. Sten and some others would go on and on about how different he was, but all it amounted to was him being a tall human with pointy ears.

So, like a really tall elf.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. A stoic, and tragic female character.

Gaider....how could you guys not want to do this?  *shakes fist*

Maybe he didn't see the new concept art until it was too late.

I don't mind the fact that they changed them or took liberties with their appearence in an attempt to make them a bit more unique as a race, I like it as well, as before they were just big grey humans..

I just wish they would have taken the opportunity to make a female, just one even, for DA2, as that type of character could have a plethora of very deeply woven motivations..

Qunari with horns remind me of Tieflings. Neither good or bad in my mind though.

You're right, of course. A female qunari would have a unique outlook. But they can't include every imaginable character just because they're different.

Also, I wonder what we're going to see of the Fex.

I remember reading something about how they were always supposed to look like they do in DA2 but something kept it from being possible which ended up being why Ogre's looked so drastically different then Sten did. And considering all the Qunarri in DAO were basically Sten we didn't really get a good look at them. Hell Armas is Sten without his dreads.

Makes sense. Based on what we know about the Qunari culture, and given that the the Qunari we'll most likely be interacting with in the game will be the spearhead of their invasion force, it would be quite unlikely for that group to include females (and even if it did, it would be such a small number that not actually getting to see any should be expected).

Of course, this would be an entirely different situation if we'd actually visit the Qunari territory and walk through their cities etc, but given that supposedly the game will mostly take place just in Kirkwall and areas close by, I can't really see that happening.

You didn't see the concept art, then? Yes, they have (smaller) horns.

No... I didnt... I am under the impression that Bioware's developers and artist do not work together (most of the time). The artist draws something and the developers do something else usually. :P

I recall them saying that some divergences have been made, but looking between the Destiny trailer, the Qunari Evolved models, and the art, I'd say they're pretty close.

The devs better have something that is nothing short of brain-explodingly awesome up their sleeve, because this BLOWS. Big goddamn time.
