I painted this after I saw the new race art. Then the Lady Qunari were swept under the rug with the Lady Krogan and so on. Grumble grumble.

I think it's time for an oversized bipedal species who send their women out into the world and keep the men at home, perhaps? One can dream...

Also I'm pretty sure the answer to why we won't see any in game is not "The Qun" but in fact "technical/memory limitations."

In BioWare's defense, Mama Urdnot would clearly be so badass as to make Shepard irrelevant.  I'm quite certain that she could probably take on a Reaper ship by herself.  Naked.

But yeah, the no female Qunari thing is just, well, silly.  I mean, if you're just going to keep them as all-man mooks, why even bother redesigning the race?

Yep. Better to give the money right to Bioware than to Gamestop, and if there are tasty extras to doing so, might as well. That was a lovely marketing strategy. I think everybody won, except Gamestop, but they're jerks.

I lolled at Mama Urdnot. And at mooks. Not enough people employ that word in their dork vocabulary.

I think the team has said that the races were redesigned because the elves were bony humans, the dwarves were short humans wth orangutan arms, the qunari were broad humans. They weren't unique enough. Improved design is a great selling point for a sequel, too.

Hey, Bioware, while you're at it, explain why you have blatantly refused to let us visit the Black City, which I could clearly see from the Fade, or the moon, which was visible from Ostagar! Why did you bother to mention the existence of the Anderfels and Kal-Sharok if we can't go there right now? Obviously, you did this just to slap us all in the face! Jerks.

Wait...

In a more serious note, you could not go to the black city because you were being held in the Sloth Demon's domain.  The only way to escape his domain would be killing him which should have sent you out the fade anyway since you were only there because of him drawing you in.  Plus you would probably just become a darkspawn and get a nonstandard game over.

For the moon, you have no magic to teleport and there is no space flight.  Plus, that would also end with a nonstandard gameover like that whale from South Park.

If you could get to the Anderfels and back there would have been no point to the game because an army of Grey Wardens versus a premature  blight would have been a joke match.

Kal-Sharok is surrounded by darkspawn, so it would be an annoying hack-and-slash through wave after wave until you reach a place filled with dwarves which I hate.  No thanks.

For this it would be quite easy, fight qunari mage handler and his mages after fight have a female qunari mage beg for her life like the blood mage in the circle tower, you free or execute her, and move on.  Just something that simple would work.  It does not cause something crazy within the story and does not take terribly much work.

But you know the answer. It's the same reason we never see female dwarves in Lord of the Rings (they stay back home). I have no doubt we'll see plenty of them if/when we are finally taken to Qunari-occupied territory.
