About the Avatar thing:
Even then, anything sentient that can approve / disapprove shouldn't count as taboo. If a dragon mutant cow thing with a dozen of arms on it's back was capable of saying she wanted you, it shouldn't be taboo.
It should be just plain weird.
I should point out that dolphin males attempt to rape human females at alarming frequency. Evidently, it approves.
I do think that there's more of a taboo involved then they're capable of saying yes or no. They should be able to understand the implications--social and otherwise. As far as it goes, the Na'vi defintely fall with in the "It's so not beastiality, come on now" bounds.
However, vorcha don't count. Freaking vorcha.

And how exactly could you prove anything having only played two hours of the game?AuraofMana wrote...
Keep telling that to yourself even though I proved you wrong several times over several posts back.
Please, just stop embarrassing yourself.
Proof that The Witcher didn't have the grindfest intro you would like to make everyone believe it had. Here check it for yourself as I'm starting to doubt you've even played the game. I'm sure reading the wiki will clue you in enough to at least successfully fake some knowledge.AuraofMana wrote...
Proof that people have different preferences and opinions. No one here is trying to convert you to think like them. This is a discussion, not a cult indoctrination.
With the exception of the dragon scales they don't always drop. So, unfortunately you'd be wrong there. What a surprise.AuraofMana wrote...
It's funny how you speak of grind in DA:O when monsters don't respawn. By your logic, if the random loot system rolls really, really unluckily for you then you just can't beat the quest ever right? Except I am pretty sure those things always drop. Also, it doesn't take hundreds of tries to get that shield. It's not my problem if it does for you.
It's funny how you **** about that shield and then tries to tell me those grind quests are optional and I don't need to do them. So is the god damn shield, so learn to make coherent logic before attempting to speak. It should be bothering me, not you. And I am not bothered by it because it doesn't take hundreds of attempts to get it. This isn't Diablo 2's Hell Meph Run for that Unique.
And the Warden Tower Shield is notoriously difficult to acquire. How is this not grinding?
Rich coming from someone who couldn't even comprehend The Witcher's alchemy system. No, really.AuraofMana wrote...
Basically, you don't understand how different these quests you keep trying to compare are.
It never crossed your mind that grinding is grinding? It doesn't matter if it's caused by additional travel time or additional reloads. You're still wasting your time and Dragon Age: Origins unarguably had plenty of that. Be it in the form of fetch quests, kill quests or random loots. Deal with it.AuraofMana wrote...
I tried explaining and you just go on to list even more quests for your terrible comparison.

It's sad but true, even though most gamers are 30+.
I very much doubt the accuracy of that claim. Do you have anything to back it up?
Not really, I did saw some statistics before but I don't remember where or when, I don't even know if it was for gamers in general or a certain group. All I remembered was that I didn't expected most of them were 30+.
So yea, take it any way you want it.

I'm teasing!
I just believe that anything that's sentient and can communicate shouldn't be considered evil and all that jazz. Elf / Human romances are done a lot and now we have Alien / Human romances on the rise. I think people raising torches against the Na'vi and such to be rather stupid, it's just that if they were mindless animals and such.. then I could understand their point.
I wouldn't support a vorcha / varren romance.

Here. If you really like, I can go fetch the actual survey itself with the actual numbers, but it's roughly the same.

EDIT: I just went to that link. It makes a lot of claims, but it doesn't actually have anything to support those claims! Regardless, it looks like they're including anything that might be considered a video game, including mobile phone games and things like Farmville. That's not really important to a game like Dragon Age, which targets a much, much different audience.

Fine. I'll link the surveys. I don't know if you noticed they were industry facts from the ESA, but whatever.
I hope you don't honestly expect people to put down the home, phone number and address of every single person they surveyed.

Really depends on the definition of "gamer", I guess. However, keep in mind that many, many gamers are like me, indeed 30+ and grown up with a NES or Sega Master System or C64, or even an Atari 2600. I just never stopped to play video/computer games - and neither did most of my friends or family. The average age of gamers will evidently only get older.

You know, even though I don't agree with him half the time, Yahtzee generally does raise good points. While I don't think you should accurately call a game good or bad just from his judgements, when he complains about something, it's usually a valid point, bathed in the waters of hyperbole. What I mean is, he overexaggerates how bad something is, but I can usually find myself nodding once or twice in his reviews, thinking "Yeah, that did suck" or "Yeah, that was weird".

I don't have any data to back this up so consider this nothing more than the general impression of some guy on the web , but I believe that, while the average gamer is definitely younger than that, the average CRPG/DAO gamer tends to be on the older side of the age curve with a high percentage of people in their late twenties/early thirties.

Yes I agree, but he's more an entertainer then a reviewer.
Every game has good and bad points, he just take all the bad points and be sarcastic about in a really good entertaining way
