As for nudity, the underwear thing will probably persist, because they feel it is tasteful.

Really? I hate FTB trope. It exists because of 1950s era morality police/censoship. There was a bit period where they had to use allegory for sex. Smoking cigs or extended dance scenes. Awful constraint.
People have sex, it's a natural part of life for adults. Adults having sex in an artistic piece is not pr0n or smut.
Bioware uses loin clothes because Steve Jobs secretly controls the world of cyberspace and is the de facto cyber police chief. In fact Apple just released their lame 10 commandments to get approval for iPhone apps. Basically it's "anything Steve Jobs doesn't like because it's too sexy and not mainstream lame sexy like Playboy"
Gakwer has a cute write up on it.

Nudity is neither tasteful nor distasteful. It's our own bias and cultural horse blinders that make us see it that way.
/the above only applies to hawt chicks of course. Juggelletes dancing nekkid with their milky white post birth bellies dragging in the mud or Dirty Old Man Hippies at Burning Man are crimes against art.
