It's an M rated game, so why not make use of that. While I'm not saying that the sex scenes should have closeups of Hawke's bulging phallus or female x's breasts, I don't think having sex scenes are bad themselves. Nudity, when done right, can actually add to the emotion of a scene rather than detract from it. See, for example the scene in the film 1984 where you can see full frontal nudity of a female, but it doesn't feel like you're watching smut. Compare it to the average porn, and you'll see a vast difference.



Therefore, I vote yes for nudity in sex scenes, so long as it doesn't get out of control or focus on making the gamer ******. If it's there for emotional or believability reasons, I say yes.

ME1 handled love scenes extremely well, I thought.

I'm not a fan of ME1, but this is one area where it was better than any other BioWare game. If you're going to have cinematic love scenes, ME1 is a terrific standard.

Personally, I think if they're going for something like a love scene, there should be full nudity.



They don't have to actually show anything, but the whole through the underwear thing was just silly.



On the other hand, actually having (implied) nude characters could make something like the city elf origin truly horrific.

Throw in another vote for ME1-type love scenes. The were very well done, imo, and lasted about the right amount of time.

That's because Wynne's romance achievement would be called, "For the Wynne."  Which is just too awesome to pass up.

I do wonder if DAO was designed somewhat differently and then changed. David said in a Q&A for DAO that "it's not like we don't have nipples elsewhere, so whatever" in response to questions about the Lady of the Forest model. Somehow I don't think he was talking about the Broodmother.

I suspect earlier builds of DAO didn't have the underwear, and naked people were naked (or at least more naked).

I agree with Dave, give me some side boobage and some ass and I'll let my perverted mind do the rest. If this is in DA2, I'm hoping it doesn't spark as much controversey as Mass Effect did.

The best you'll get is probably topless (which I think The Witcher, definitely The Witcher 2, and I think Conan have).  Full nudity on human bodies will 'cause the game to take a significant hit to their ratings.

Not to mention that stores like Walmart will refuse to sell it, which will mean sales will take a hit.  EA will never allow such a thing.  Heck, I kinda think they're the ones responsible for all the toning downs of this particular feature in BW games after the whole Mass Effect debacle.

Of course, maybe EA will life such restrictions--if true--now that Jack Thompson, that is his name, I think, has been dis-barred.

They still just seem like a nerd's fancy at this point; BioWare romances typically culminate with a sex scene then then you just run out of content, which I guess is sadly more realistic in today's day and age.

Very few games are able to implement nudity or sex without it feeling forced or try hard.

If in doubt, leave it out.

Unless it's done well and within context, it breaks the immersion for me.

Especially games that dedicate physics to boobs, that just cracks me up. Boob physics...seriously. Rise of the Argonauts, I'm looking at you!

Actually, for most people, that's how the Morrigan romance begins. Also, sex with Zev is very casual--you may choose to have it as a part of your relationship, and be fairly meaningless, you may not. It's somewhat true with Alistair, who will sleep with you at your behest, but it seems more like "I really really like this girl and I hate being a virgin" reasons then he loves you yet. Absolutely played straight with Leliana, where you can't even ask her before she asks you.

Like I said, if you don't like the scenes, you can skip them. Alistair's was adorable, I thought, and appropriate, and I'm glad it was there. If you don't like sex scenes, skip them. I see no point in removing content that some people like that is purely optional. It's like saying you hate all the focus on romance on the boards and want it removed. They're optional.

Yeah I know, it's kinda sad though, how supposedly rational people all of a sudden turn into fanatics when it comes to the subject of the human body.

I did play one game with full nudity, Mortal Online, a sandbox mmorpg,  it's developed by swedes though.

I guess a fulfilled relationship during an adventure is just a foreign concept to me.  I often draw fantasy/fiction/character/etc. inspiration from campy television action/comedy shows like Firefly, Legend of the Seeker, Chuck, etc.  In those episodic settings, there rarely exists such relationships until the series has ended (or, in the case of Chuck, when the series thinks it has ended).

It just seems weird to me that you begin a relationship with someone, sleep with them, and then nothing new happens - noting is even mentioned unless you explicitly attempt to sleep with someone else - for hours and hours of gameplay.

I enjoy the flirting; that "adventuring sexual tension" is a staple in the genre, and I do get a sense of enjoyment from the "fulfilled" romances simply for my own internal acknowledgment.  But as far as the gameplay is concerned, it just hasn't clicked with me in a BioWare game (in any game, that is) yet.

I by no means advocated removing the feature, though I guess the words I used to describe the extent with which these features do not affect me could have been seen as such.

Females look pretty natural with a nudity mod in DAO, but males look unintentially hilarious.  Probably best if Bioware never ventures down there.

Yep especially Cailan's body in RTO, although maybe unintentionally hilarious isn't quite the right words, disturbing certainly springs to mind.
