Just returned from PAX, QUESTIONS?

were they as cool as the warrior and rogue melee attacks?
would it feel "satisfying" for a player who likes his/her mages to wade in the thick of battle and melee attack enemies?
thanks.

No it wasn't nearly as satifying as it was clunky. It was much more epic to use a mage to toss a fireball. I hope that answers you question.
thanks.
I guess that's...........a bit disappointing to hear.......lol. Hopefully they will work on the staff melee animations some more.
Oh, I've heard that warriors have a new "charge" attack. What does that look like? Is it similar to the charge attack Vanguards have in ME2?
and how was the warrior combat in the demo? did they really feel and look like "spartan warriors?"

Please be detailed.
I could give a flying hoot to what male Hawke sounds like.

Secondly, the be the most specific for female Hawke's voice. As I said male Hawke reminded me of Orlando Bloom in "Kingdom of Heaven", female Hawke reminded me of Eowyn from "Lord of the Rings". It was definatley female but had a tough sex appeal to it; like she would sleep with you then kick you ass afterwards. Having said that, I only had one play through with her so someone else who played as her may have garnered a different interpretation of her voice during their play through. I hope that helps.

is it true that Rogues are now very "ninja-like" in their movement and combat style?
do they flip behind their enemies to do the backstabs?
can they really "teleport like nightcrawler" as one person described?

They are definitely very quick and athletic. I can't say I remember any flipping behind enemies or teleporting specifically, but they move so fast it would probably be very easy to miss. "Teleporting like Nightcrawler" actually sounds like Flicker from Awakening, but again, I don't remember that specifically.lunarknightmage wrote...

Is that ever explained or anything?
Is that thing always there?

According to various sources at PAX, it's a blood mage thing, it's just "a thing," Gaider didn't write Hawke with the smear, etc. It was definitely never addressed in the demo, but it was there.monkeyalias wrote...

I'm not sure. I wasn't looking for that, specifically, but I didn't notice anything weird-looking in that regard, and I was playing/controlling Bethany a lot. But then I didn't really have a problem with the animation in Origins either. Sorry, that's probably not much of a help.andar91 wrote...
I think you guys may have missed a question a page back so I'll repeat it here: did they change the running-with-a-staff animation so that it looks better?

No problem, I just thought I'd check. Just going off of this video (). The girl closest to the camera plays as Bethany a lot and you see her running. It looks to me like the mage holds the staff higher up and closer to parallel to the ground.

Did Varric look more like his sexy concept art, or did he look like the big fat lug that we saw in the screen shot that's been going around the forums? Can you describe Varric in more detail? Any detail... Anything. lol

The running with the staff animation to my recollection does look better, it has greatly improved along with ALL of the other running. Versus the horse riding running from DAO.

As for that picture, it is pretty much bang on, except he doesn't look like he has down sindrome <-- no offense to those who do what so ever.

He looked better than that fugly screenshot we got, but...I mean it's not like it's a different person. He still looks more or less like that. I just mean he doesn't seem as fugly. I'm sure seeing him in motion and hearing the voice helps.namedforthemoon wrote...

I don't remember Bethany ever casting with just her hands (except in the cutscenes), but I suppose it's possible. She used her staff a lot, and it looked really cool.lunarknightmage wrote...

Mage Hawke was unavailable in the demo, sadly, but you could see them on the character select screen. Male Mage Hawke wore a surprisingly simple mage robe (compared to the hodepodge of gear the other models have), but perhaps there is still work to be done there (it makes sense the playable versions would be more detailed). I can't really describe in detail what the Female Mage Hawke wore, but I know it wasn't as plain as Male Hawke's robe.
