It's hardly impossible to tell. I know I can differentiate most VAs by the sound of their voice. Not only that, but I've heard a few people claim that he sounds like or sounded like Peter Bramhill. It's up in the air right now.

Occam says Boulton.

He's also claimed that he was on the side of Boulton since early on in the thread, if I remember correctly. It's very easy to listen into things.

I wasn't so much "on his side" as "putting him in the top 4 of who I thought it would probably be." In fact, if I had my choice, I'd probably have gone with Bramhill. That said, Boulton does have a great voice. It's nice and rich, but not all cliché-rugged-raspy-hero-voice.

I went there specifically listening for Cam Clarke, Desmond Askew, Nicholas Boulton, and Peter Bramhill. The former two because they have very distinctive voices and I was confident I'd be able to pick them out, and the latter two because honestly I thought it would be one of those two. I love Cam Clarke but I never really thought he'd be it.

marquiseondore wrote...

I think Occam was comparing to
Boulton's VA reel. Which has some old work. Like the Coca Cola
one...that had to be at least 15 years old.

Actually, while I was waiting in line I was watching YouTube clips of Vaughan scenes with headphones. As soon as he spoke in-game I could almost hear him delivering Vaughan's lines. I'm not saying I can't be wrong, and it's not like I'm going to add it to the "what do we know" thread. I'm just saying I am extremely confident. If I am wrong, I will fully accept it and eat an extra-large helping of humble pie.

I went through twice: On my first run I was a male scout, and on my last run I was female warrior. On the second run I mainly wanted to get as far into the demo as I could, because I spent so much time watching cutscenes the first time around that I didn't get very far. I'm happy to say I made it to the "real" Flemeth the second time around...she is incredible. She definitely looks old...you could totally buy her as the same Flemeth from DAO, but her look is just awesome and of course the voice. And what an entrance.

Speaking of Flemeth, when Aveline names her as the Witch of the Wilds, she does sort of the same thing as in DAO, like "some call me that." She also gives another example of a name which I had never heard before. I tried to memorize it but sadly I failed...it started with Asha'bel...something. Like one or two more syllables on the end. It sounded kind of...elven to me. Maybe a name the Dalish have for her?

Flemeth also says something REALLY interesting...which I will not repeat until several days after Witch Hunt comes out. ;) It's hardly an outright spoiler, but it does...suggest...quite a bit. It was hidden in one of the "investigate" hubs, so I bet a lot of people ended up skipping it.

Let's see, what else...oh, Bethany's hair did NOT look purple, nor plastic, and Hawke's beard matched his hair just fine. Flemeth's hair didn't "flow," really. There was some clipping. It still looked nice, comparatively. As for her robe/cloak after the transformation...well I hate to say that in all the excitement I didn't notice. I don't remember seeing anyone else's clothes flowing, though.

Signed by both Gaider and Evil Chris (with emoticon!). I wanted to get Sebastian and David Silverman and Derek and more, but I foolishly waited until the end and they were all busily breaking down the booth. I managed to catch Priestly before I went in, and Gaider just after I came out (and right before he went back in to help). :wizard: I would have brought the novels, but I only have them in e-book format. :P

And lol...to anyone who hung out on the ustream...I don't know if the cameras were running during the last round of presentation/demos, but I managed to get a BSoD. If they were running and anyone was watching, that was me. I was the second one from the left on the far wall. Also if you saw a hand waving behind Gaider's head during his last Q&A, that was me too. I didn't want to be "that guy," but I was on the phone with a friend and he got a kick out of it. And both times I went in, they were doing Q&As when I got to the front of the line.

What accent did Cassandra have? Someone said her voice was sexy, though I was a bit unnerved by her apperance (what's with her eyes?)

Well I think it was mentioned in a Q&A that she was Nevarran. I honestly couldn't place it in real world terms...it wasn't a very heavy accent. But it was hot. Her eyes were a bit bright...they didn't seem all that bulbous though.

Graphics looked amazing on PS3 and
360, but the developer (Looked half asian, younger, glasses, goatee
spikey hair, did the play by play for the Warden's Quest thing for DAO)
chose to use the words 'good for PC graphics' or something to that
effect, when talking of the PC version, so I don't know what that means.

I think he meant that the PC graphics are improved, but PC graphics were already good. So we'll be "pleased" or whatever. But the console graphics for DAO...well, they sucked. So comparatively speaking, the difference between DAO and DA2 for consoles is going to be much bigger than it was for PC, hence they'll be "BLOWN AWAY." He always got extra excited on that part. That was David Silverman btw.

SirOccam you were listening to Vaughn Youtubes while in line? Wow. That, friends, is dedication.

You're a forum hero. I salute you! (and as a Boulton supporter I say...yay!)

No, but then, I didn't ask. I don't think I have it in me to ask another man to shimmy for me without the protective shield of anonymity the Internet provides.

No, but I definitely saw the Mudkip. :)

Best costume I saw was probably the a female Warden in Warden Commander plate with Starfang.

Ahh! I remember seeing you during the Q&A! I thought, "Now who the heck is that waving behind David?".

Unfortunately we were in Q&A during the very last presentation/demo and right after they went off air because they were getting ready for tear down.

Only got this crappy one. Was in a line and didn't really expect to see her saunter past right then, so I had to scramble a bit.

Oh, and to anyone wondering, sorry but I couldn't place FemHawke's voice. It was soft but she could be firm (I chose a lot of the "confrontational" lines). I liked it...I know that doesn't really say much. For some reason it's harder for me to differentiate female voices (unless they're super distinctive like Kate Mulgrew).

Wesley's voice sounded SO familiar, but I just can't place it. It reminded me a little of Alistair, but not so much that I think it was Steve Valentine. I bet it was someone from Origins though...just wish I could put a face to it.

Did she sound like natural British accent and not someone trying to fake it.

Does anyone remember what most of the conversations in the demo were about? I spent the last three days watching the same video clips over and over again @_@ I kept thinking if only the webcam was in HD then there were be a chance to make out the text.

Oh, Cullen. That's a definite possibility. If not him, then a voice in that general range.

Yes, in fact all the accents I heard sounded pretty natural. Including whatever Cassandra's was. Oh and everyone who said the word pronounced "apostate" as "a POS tate," so yay, though I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who's ever cared about that.

I'll do my best to remember, but this'll be way off, I'm sure. SPOILER ALERT, obviously.

If you missed that, SPOILER ALERT

It starts out with just Hawke and Bethany, and tons of Darkspawn surrounding them. Beth says something to the effect of "there are too many of them" and I can't remember if you have a chance to respond or not. But then you go on your insane killing spree. Then an Ogre comes and  you kill it, then more darkspawn come and Flemeth leaps from a ledge and roars and then...

"Bull****" says Cassandra. Followed by something like "that's not what happened."
Varric sort of sighs and leans back and asks if that matches with what she's heard.
She says she doesn't want to hear stories.
He says something sarcastic like "let me guess, your precious chantry is in ruins and...." I forget the rest.
Cassandra says something else, then demands that he tell her what really happened.

Then you cut to Hawke, Bethany, their mother, and Carver all running. Mother trips, darkspawn are almost upon her. Hawke turns in slo-mo with a horrified expression on his face, but Bethany kills them all with a huge flame burst that also acts as a temporary barrier.

Mother says "it's all gone...everything your father and I built."
Hawke more or less urges the group to move on, though you can do it in different ways.
One or two other people speak (sorry, can't recall), then you continue on, and fight some more darkspawn.

The group stops again, and I think Mother says something, then Bethany says "we can't keep wandering aimlessly."
I remember the sarcastic option here, Hawke says "as long as it's aimlessly away from the darkspawn I don't mind" or something to that effect.
Bethany says something and Carver says "why are you looking at us? We've been running since Ostagar!"
Your mother suggests Kirkwall. "We still have family there--and estates."
Hawke says "Kirkwall is a long way to go" (I think (s)he speaks of his/her own accord here)
Someone (I think Bethany) says you'll have to find a ship in Gwaren.
Can't remember how this one ends, but everyone keeps running.

Then you get a cutscene of Wesley and Aveline fighting. Wesley gets hit from behind and falls, but before the darkspawn can finish him, Aveline takes him out and goes a little nuts on him.
When you talk to them, Wesley immediately sees Bethany and calls her an apostate.
Aveline mentions that the Hawkes just saved their lives.
The confrontational dialogue here for Hawke is "Just so you know, I'm with Bethany" or something like that.
Wesley finally agrees to chill out, and the group agrees to work together for now. Aveline is kind of sarcastic here; I liked it.
You have a chance to say something here, the "nice" one is "he looks injured, will he be okay?" or something. I think Aveline says she will help him.
They say something about darkspawn cutting off the north, Carver says "but the Korkari Wilds are south". You end up deciding you have to head south anyway.

You keep running, and the ground starts to shake, and here comes that ogre from the first "exaggerated" part.
Then....

in case you ignored it before, REALLY GETTING QUITE SPOILERIFFIC NOW!

He grabs Carver and sorta throws him around. Looks painful. You take the ogre down with Hawke, Bethany, and Aveline.
Mother runs over to him and gets down next to him and says "He's gone now, you can get up" or something.
Aveline says "I'm sorry, but your son is gone"
You speak as Hawke now, the "kind" option is something like "he gave his life to save us"
Mother shouts "I don't want a hero, I want my son!"  (:crying: Bethany's voice acting is great here...she sounds on the verge of tears, but I don't remember what she says)
Someone else speaks, then Bethany says it will have been in vain if they don't get out of there.

Then darkspawn surround you again, just like at the beginning, and Flemeth comes down. She roasts a bunch of them from above, then swoops down and grabs one. She flies up really high and drops him. Then she lands and picks one up. She transforms into a human, and she's still holding the darkspawn by the wrist, dragging him, then drops him as she walks toward you. "Well, well, what have we here."
You can thank her for helping you (something like "I don't know what we would have done if you hadn't come along"). There were the snarky and confrontational options, but I didn't choose them.
She says she noticed an ogre dying and was curious as to who could have done it. But now she's going to leave.
Bethany(?) says "you can't just leave"
Flemeth says "can I not?"
Aveline says "I know who you are, you're the Witch of the Wilds. You steal children" or something.
Flemeth finds this amusing, and says she's also known as Flemeth and "asha'bel_____" something. And that it all depends on what story you want to believe.
You ask for her to help you get out of there.
She asks where you're going, and someone tells her, and she agrees to help (I think) if you agree to deliver a package for her to the Dalish elves which are supposedly not far from Kirkwall. She says the name of the keeper (it's a she), but I forgot it.

There are a lot of investigate options here, but I won't go into them, even with all the spoiler warnings. ;)
Finally you agree. Oddly, even the peaceful one is something like "We don't really have a choice." That was the only instance of the spoken line being noticeably different than the paraphrase, but it wasn't really DRASTICALLY different. No punching kittens or anything.
Flemeth then tells you that Wesley is injured too badly.
Wesley says "If you need to leave me behind, then do it."
Aveline says no, and that she said she will carry him out if she has to, and she will

Sadly...that's when the mean ol' devs finally kicked us out. :P

Anyway, I'm sure that's way off...the first part is especially fuzzy, since that was the first thing I did, and the second time I skipped as much of the dialogue as I could so I could get farther in the demo (the first time, I had to leave just after meeting Aveline + Wesley).

I'm still saddened nobody has been able to say anything concrete about Varric's voice. D:
