There's still level ups in Dragon Age 2.. I didn't think it needed to be mentioned.

First of all, now it's SirOccam answering questions, and he never offered to in a thread, he's just doing us a favor. Like half the stuff he does around here.
Also, you sound awfully demanding. If it were me, and be happy it isn't, I'd ignore you.

American accent like the Dwarves we're used to. It was sort of deep and scratchy, but it definitely wasn't Steve Blum. I really can't think of who it sounded like...it wasn't very distinctive one way or the other. I do remember liking his performance though, especially his sigh after Cassandra calls BS on his story.namedforthemoon wrote...
What did Varric sound like, SirOccam? What type of accent did he have? Did he remind you of any actors that we might place his voice to?
Yes, that was it, thank you!Lucy_Glitter wrote...

You were definitely given exp, although I wasn't looking down in that corner of the screen very often, so I can't say for sure if it was per kill. There definitely wasn't an exp number over their heads. But I do clearly remember seeing, at times, "Garrett exp +150" or whatever. It was down in the lower right-hand corner.Mehow_pwn wrote...

Not sure what you mean by evolving or getting stronger though. The only loot I saw were health poultices and stamina draughts. Oh and one darkspawn dropped 3 copper, lol. I wasn't hanging around to check every corpse though.
Personally I LOVED it. Your mother doesn't participate in the fighting, she just kinda follows you and cowers (like Levi Dryden in Soldier's Peak DLC). But dialogue with Bethany was great, and I loved the part where darkspawn come over a hill and she goes "shall I handle it, or will you?" I had her do it both times, and she does so in the cutscene with a big fireball.Foxvos wrote...
Did you feel some connection to your family members?
Are you willing to have a sister/mother in your party or did they just annoy you?
One particular moment I really loved was when Wesley calls her out on being an apostate. I love that they give you a chance to make it known that, even though Aveline talks Wesley into leaving it alone for now, you are with Bethany and that he'll have to come through you (though that wasn't the phrase you use).
I didn't feel as much connection to Carver, but he didn't have that many lines.

Yeah Bioware kill that Orphan/No Family/Family die in the first 5 seconds trope you find in most games.
SirO- in your honest opinion, do you think Dragon Age 2 will exceed Dragon Age Origins?

This is probably one of the biggest things that excites me. I loved talking to Fergus in the game and having a full game of that? Awesome!

Wouldn't of it been fantastic if he got all protective older brother on Alistair, and made his life hellish? In a charming, older brother sort of way?
/has no older brothers
That's how it'd be like.

That's one of the few direct quotes. David Silverman also made a point of quoting her exactly on that particular word during the presentations. I kinda liked it.Dave of Canada wrote...

Actually I do specifically remember it was a "package," not just a message. I don't remember the exact phrasing, but Flemeth says to promise to use "it" however the Dalish keeper asks you to, and your debt will be considered repaid. I'm really thinking it's the crazy dragon glove thingy, but who knows.Altima Darkspells wrote...

Also I'm not so sure the Seekers are necessarily going to be enemies. Maybe it's just Cassandra's accent making me like her, but she didn't seem to be antagonistic towards Hawke, just curious.
Just in terms of quality? It's hard to say. I know I had a blast playing it, but I don't think I'm capable of being very objective about it at this point, after the past month of rabid fact-scrap-mongering. I don't know how much of an effect my anticipation had, or the effect of being at PAX, or seeing Gaider like 2 feet away doing a Q&A or whatever else.Foxvos wrote...

Plus there'll be so many fond memories of DAO...you always remember your first and so forth.
I guess if I were going to try to be objective about it, I'd be comfortable saying that there is a chance that it could be a better game than DAO. It's going to have more or less the same quality level as far as story, but I honestly think that combat is way more fun. And I'll also say that I don't really like the new look of the darkspawn, but when you're actually playing and not poring over every pixel of a screenshot...you don't really notice the imperfections. It's pretty easy to accept them as Darkspawn when you're in the thick of it.
It might be of interest to note that I didn't play very tactically, although the capability was there. I paused a few times, but mostly I was trying to see as much of the demo as possible. Plus it was just really fun playing that way. Especially playing as a mage (Bethany). Their attack animations are really freakin' cool. So if it comes across sounding like a hack & slash, that's probably why. You don't have to play it like that though (although I totally suggest it, at least if you're playing on the console).
