Have to say the Baldur's Gate saga as well for damn good adventuring. Bloodlines is also good and one of the best written, but I have to deduct points for the second half where they obviously were running out of money. KotOR, maybe it was because I didn't try it for the first time till this year, but I just couldn't get into it nor seriously enjoy it, sorry but I just don't see what was so special about it, and would like to ask those who like the following question: Had you tried other Bioware games first? Not an attempt to slag it off, I'm genuinely interested.

Good question FlintlockJazz. I have. In fact I still have the cardboard booklet Tales of the Sword Coast discs somewhere around here. But it was my first venture into D&D styled RPGs and it was overwhelming at the time because I was so young and impatient with everything. Sad. And now if I go back and play it, it pains the eyes and the mind. I have grown jaded and accustomed in my expectations. Difficult to admit. Oh, and yes, I'm an idiot.

I'm also thinking about reinstalling it... Still need to do a Malkavian run.

To pick ONE BEST RPG is quite difficult :P
In terms of number of playthroughs, Gothic 2 wins for me. I played that game so often, I'm about to lose count xD
Of the more recent, Dragon Age is the best. I also really enjoy playing Vampire The Masquerade (Redemption and Bloodlines). Awesome games and setting!
Honorary mention to the old gems, Planescape Torment and Baldurs Gate 2 :-)

But one favourite or best RPG....nah, can't do that :-)

You won't be disappointed there. I ended up trying the Nosferatu and Malkavians last. They make for excellent conversationalists.;)

You're in for a treat. The wacky dialogue is awesome and they have some really fun disciplines.

Did you know the twist before you played it?  It was my first Bioware game, but still my favorite.  I'm actually playing it again right now.

I would probably say KOTOR(played it before I knew the twist which was no more than 2 years ago) followed by The Witcher (cant wait for the second one) and then Dragon age:Origins(again, cant wait for DA2).

There is actually alot more and some of them even deserve to be right next to KOTOR or The Witcher but I really dont want to list all of my favourite RPGs.It would take forever.

I'm terrible at them, but I love the soundtracks. Good choice, virumor!

Wizardry 8 beats M&M 8... because Wizardry 8 allows one to make a pixie-only party.

KOTOR or Neverwinter Nights. I like KOTOR because of the technology and lightsabers and also like Neverwinter Nights because magic.
