I remember them being a huge pain the first time I got through BG1, yet I never actually experimented to see what did and didn't work.
Best weapons and spells to use on doom guards?

Do I need +2 weapons to damage them?

I'm not quite sure (at the moment I've met them all my party members have some kind of +2 weapon), but I think - no, you don't need +2. They have 100 resist vs missiles but 0 vs all other (blunt, slashing, piercing) and 50 vs fire/cold

BG1 has monsters that need magical weapons to hurt them, but +1 is enough for every such monster you encounter. It's not until BG2 that the plussitude of the weapon becomes important for hitting different targets.

Does that apply to BGT and Tutu as well?

Depends on the mods you have installed, i guess. I don't know about Tutu, but in a BWP/BGT install several opponents need at least +2 weapons to hit. Those are all optional, though. If you don't play mods like Drizzt Saga and DSotSC, i don't think you'll ever meet opponents that need better than +1 weapons to hit.

Dispel magic on the one from BG1. It removes his Blur & Flaming sword, forcing the chump to fight bare-handed (he still packs a punch, though).
