Golems of Incomplete Character Import

I finally grabbed the Golems DLC.  I imported my character, started the game, ran into the first group of enemies... and discovered that my fighter's sword and a run of the mill "no special stats" shield apparently hadn't been imported along with the character.

Given that I didn't have any other melee weapons in my inventory, this was a bit of a problem...

I double-checked the import that the save came from and confirmed that the missing items were present in that save.  But after re-importing the items in question are once again missing.

Anyone know what's up?  And more importantly, how to fix it?

So after doing lots and lots of digging in the forum, I turned up the fact that Awakening wouldn't import DLC items.  Did this ever get fixed?  Does Golems have the same problem?  I have a vague recollection that the shield I'm missing is only available in Warden's Keep (which is a bit odd, given that there's lots of other gear in the same tier and the shield in question has no bonus stats on it; but there you go), so I'm guessing that the "DLC won't import" problem extends to Golems as well?

Did Bioware ever fix this?

Why did Bioware let something this simple and stupid slip through QC?

And more importantly, why isn't it listed in the Known Issue stickies at the top of the page?

I'd put off getting Awakenings for the longest time, but was finally considering going ahead and purchasing it.  But unless Bioware has taken the time to fix this issue, I think I'll continue to avoid it.

No one's going to answer this simple question?

I'd like to get Awakening and Witch Hunt...  but only if Bioware has fixed this.

No, everyone does not.  It's not listed in the stickies at the top, nor did the search terms that I used turn up anything.  The only way to figure it out was by doing some serious digging into some of the forum threads.

Thanks for confirming, however.

Sorry, didn't see this before, but year, Warden's Keep items to not import. Stone Prisoner aren't supposed to either, though I think in some cases some have imported. Return to Ostagar items do import properly.

They were obviously supposed to import, just that Biwoare apparently gave up trying to get it to work. Thats being lazy if you ask me.
Theres a fix for the dlc not transferring.

That did the trick.  Thanks!

Given that a tiny batch file is apparently all that's needed to fix this, I'm surprised that Bioware couldn't be bothered to take care of this obvious and quite embarassing (for them) issue.

BW chose not to make the items import, and it actually is listed in the FAQ for the game on their website. It is not a bug, it was by design. One might argue that it was one of the stupidest design decisions ever, but it isn't a bug.

Actually I would argue that it was pure lazyness. They probably ran into problems trying to get the system to work and then, like they did with alot of other awakening bugs, left it alone possibly hoping it would just go away (ofcourse what they actually did was pretend it was by choice). Thus removing any obligation to fixing it later on. Thats my theory anyway.
So im not buying into the whole it was on purpose, as no developer can be that stupid. :crying:

Given that it took modders less than 12 hours to create a work-around with none of the Awakenings resources in the toolset, it was either an idiotic decision probably to try to keep the DLC items out of the hands of those who didn't buy the DLC, or the programmers are even more incompetent than the slew of bugs would suggest.

Whether a bug or not, I think we can all agree that it's something that Bioware should feel embarassed about...

Technically, it's their 'Awakenings' FAQ that provides this minor detail (after you mentioned it, I ran it down).  I suppose now they need to provide FAQs for Golems and Witch Hunt as well.

I don't buy the story or "it was not intended to import xxx-DLC items".
In the past we found our imported characters often without the last equipment they had in the original game.
But they came with new equipment as a placeholder. Perhaps not so good as the previous gear, but better than to let an imported character run into battle with empty hands.

So, in my not a bit humble opinion it's a lie.

Especially annoying is the fact that they seemingly believe we will buy such cheap excuses. They must really think, we all are a bunch of spoiled, retarded, prepubescent kids.
