The statistics are from Bioware. Why would it be bs? lol

I think people are just mad the stats aren't conforming to what they want it to be

Or some people just don't know how to properly question statistics.

Do these account for multiple playthroughs? Were they randomly selected from an individual's current playthrough which may or may not have been a simple experimental run?

I highly doubt these statistics are accurate; at the very least they aren't accurate how they're presented.

These numbers numbers appear very "round" to me. 50%, 80%, etc. Still, BW doesn't gain anything by fiddling with these numbers, so they must be correct.

That's what they want you to think!

how do you play a single playthrough for 66 hours? You'd be just standing around a lot. That's about twice the time it takes me...

I agree. It is not clear what those number really mean form the data presented in the first post. They are meaningless.

4 players completed ME2 23 times! at an average of 33 hours thats 759hrs since February. So in the last ~ 7 months, one full month was spent playing the game...

Well, to me, I automatically came to think:

80% of people customized their character when starting a new game (obviously not ME1 save).

80% of people who started a new game and/or imported their ME1 save played as male Shepard

Around 50% of people imported their ME1 save

etc.... I mean it seems clear to me though..

Meh, I dont have any male sheps so maybe my stats are in the ONLY category. Still that slight pic there is mistrep of the whole of the data they have.

Mys is on to something though. Its not clearly stating if that MaleShep stat is from main or alts or someone who booted up a 4 min campain and said, well this maleshep sucks, lets make another one. Or rather Ill make a female one instead. The only stats I believe in are the hrs to complete and the amount of playthru stuff.

Good stuff, can't believe that ONLY 50% that started mass effect 2 finished it, what is wrong with the other people.

Tried the game, and moved on. Those people may have not even played ME1, since 50% don't even import.

Keep in mind, this statics don't include people that aren't connected to Cerberus Network, or Xbox Live.

I am really surprised Soldier class is the most played class by far.

The Loyalty Missions do get repetitive.

Really? I expected that to be honest. It's the most versatile class.

well, since they operate these numbers so freely, why not give the percent of people, who didn't use the feedback feature?

ugh, the logic behind choosing data to include is completely failed. that's not statistics for analisys, that's some stupid pr move

I don't want to sound rude, but I really hope that they didn't use the same methods to collect their data as DA:O used to upload game info to this site. I had to jump through hoops to get those uploaded correctly. :P

Yes, I expected Soldier was the most played class, but not THIS much (more than all other classes combined..just crazy).

Thats not so bad as it might seem. It's roughly what you get, if you play all weekend every week for 7 months.

In the article it says that all the data they get are events. So the 80% male Shepards could be taken form all Shepards ever created, or all Shepards who ever finished the game, or something like that. Don't know if they can determine if it's the first playthrough since it's anonymous.
Maybe we should make our own polls, advertise them properly, get many people to vote. We could kinda check those numbers.

On the forums, with Fem gamers, and some male gamers. But most gamers are male that play only one character. Thus, you'll have more Male Sheps, then Male and Female, and just Female.

Exactly, the internet is not a good place to get an idea of anything really.

I imagine Tali is nowhere near as popular as the forums would have you believe for example.

A large percentage of that figure comes from casual gamers, the Sims, puzzle games, etc. not hardcore gaming which is what we would be considered.

That's based off a consumer survey. Tell me, did you do this consumer survey? Because if you didn't, it doesn't include you.

In the same study though, it said that around 33% of gamers over 18 (most who play Mass Effect) are female. So the older the gamer, more likely it is a male. And that's a survey.

I think the regular fans that post on these forums cannot be considered as average players. I assume that most of us did complete the game and (according to my poll) often play as FemShep. If not then a lot of these threads here won't make much sense. ;)

This forum doesn't represent the gaming populace as a whole, it's a big exception, not the rule.

Yeah, the 50% who did not finish the game, don't hang around in here, I guess.
