Unless you are a chick or a gay male, there is really only one reason to play a femshep: hot girl-on-girl action.

Most peeps will play with shep as an extension of their personality, thus most male players will play shep as either their ego or alter ego. Only a relative few will play the girly lead. It matters not a whiff if you are among those who play femshep, someone ALWAYS likes to think that they are representative of the majority/normal. You ain't. Just as those of us who are here on this site are NOT representative of most players. We are either WAY too into gaming, have no real life, or have lots of time to blow at the moment...or some combo of the above. That itself is not representative of the majority of players.

You are a fool. Jennifer Hale alone is enough reason to never play manshep.

Oh god you made me LOL, haven't laughed at an internet comment so hard before.

I guess some people are having trouble accepting that these forums are a minority of the ME fanbase, and that femshep fanboys don't exist outside of these forum walls. I wonder why that is.

Very happy to hear that 50% of players used an ME1 import, hopefully Bioware takes this into account for ME3 and they make the import bonuses and choices more substantial.

I played femshep because I don't want to stare at male sheps butt for 30+ hours.

Also, i wonder if the 50% finished thing is taking into consideration that I haven't finished 5 of my started plays out of the 15 or so i've begun?

I think maleshep has a great ass (for someone who got blown to hell that is). I hope a LI mentions it in the future. If that is your excuse for abandoning maleshep.... you fail.

I have no qualms playing games with male protagonists.  But I've only finished 1 MShep playthrough, and am on my 4th and 5th FemShep playthroughs.

Ms. Hale is absolutely spectacular as the FemShep voice.

I've played through four ManSheps and one FemShep. I don't really find either Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale to be vastly superior to one another. There are, occasionally, some lines I feel one or the other delivered better. But they both "work" just fine as Shep. I totally don't understand why people bash Mark Meer so much. (Though, admittedly, he's a bit deadpan when not being a Renegade jackass. :D )

it doesn't surprise me to see engineer as the least played. most people see the game and think TPS so they immediately go for one of the combat classes. soldier is the "pick up and play class" with no real learning curve.

makes me wonder what they'll do to the engineer class in ME3. maybe give em a mine layer or a bubble shield or something. or just make them straigt demolition experts.

let them lase a target for the normandy to do an airstrike but that would only work outdoors

Showing a small video clip of each class in action as you select one could do a lot to change those statistics.  I don't think it would do much for the Engineer ("Oh, cool, a glowing ball...")*, but with the right segments of action displayed, more people might have given other classes a chance.  The Vanguard and Infiltrator in particular have very flashy combat styles that could sell them better than walls of tiny text.

*Don't get me wrong.  The Engineer is a very effective class on all difficulty levels.  Its kit isn't stereotypically heroic though.

Yeah, Engineers aren't very flashy, but consider also that many Engineer skills/powers are very situational, like AI Hacking and Cryo Blast.  Combat Drone isn't all that intuitive to use either, so it is no wonder really that Engineer is the least played class.  Don't get me wrong, it's an effective class, it just takes a while to get the hang of.

I was thinking more people might play biotic classes, especially Adepts and Vanguards, if they knew going into the game what was possible when using them.  But for the most part these statistics aren't all that surprising.

Agreed. The Vanguard would appeal to lots of people if they could see one charging around like a mad(wo)man. For instance, I think I decided to play one after watching someone's YouTube video of playing one.

I love the Infiltrator, too, but it's not quite as flashy as the Vanguard. (Easier to play, though.) Whether or not people really realizing that you're like a Sniper Rifle-Rogue would increase its appeal, I'm not sure. Couldn't hurt, though.

Sounds to me like you're afraid of something.

Only half the people finished the game because ME2 is a letdown for people continuing from ME1.

1. Your character dies and is rebuilt by Cerberus. So now they take credit for Shepard existing how he is instead of all the work you put in ME1.
2. Your choice to kill or save the Council holds absolutely no bearing on the story whatsoever as your forced to work with Cerberus even if you support the Alliance.
3. Before Liara's DLC, it was impossible to continue any romances from ME1.

I finished it purely out of curiosity and not interest., then shelved it and switched to Dragon Age after a week.
Unheard of since I played ME1 for 9 months.

You're in luck!
Most of the game when your weapon is out, you never see anything below Shep's shoulder blades.

First, I disagree. But second, and more importantly, I believe that most games have half or less of their players actually finish them. Can't tell you why, since I've beaten every game I've ever bought. (OTOH, I don't buy many games.) So take that stat with a grain of salt—there's no context for it, relative to other games.

Yes, this is pretty much the point.

I mean, if you go to other forums or sites Vanguards and Infiltrators are so popular as the Soldier.
If the Soldier was the chosen one most of talk will be about him, but thit is not what happens.

I'm not saying the Soldier isn't popular, but common...80%!
It make no sense.

None of those stats are really that surprising. To me, people thinking internet forums reflect reality is surprising. You figure ME2 has sold a million+ copies and I would bet this forum has less than 5k active users. Most people don’t get on the internet to talk about games.
