Once you get into it and learn how to make the best of the combat system, it is an frakiong awesome system, even more at higher skill levels. It never stops being awesome and giving the possibility of more awesomeness! Specially in hard diff where there is no pointers for the right time to attack to get the combos.

Dialogue and story are very cool,very much more after the prologue. Once you get into Vizima, the game gets better and better.

I love DA:O and I have over 100 videos of it that says so. But The Witcher is one of the greatest games of the genre too. Anyone who can't enjoy it, for whatever reason, is missing a lot. Give it another try with an open mind and it will grow on you! Geralt rox!

I played the game on hardest difficulty. The combat = clicking at the right time and occasionally using a sign. I found it very tedious.
To me Geralt felt like a very very boring character. As he is premade, he should be interesting, but i didnt find anything exciting in him nor in the other characters.
The dialogue felt very stiff to me, not much else to say.

Theyre just my opinions thou.

The Whitcher is a good game. It had a nice rhythm to the fighting and had a good earthy feeling to it.

Back on topic...The witcher didn't influence Dragon Age 2 much. They are very different games. Dragon Age 2 is a party based tactical rpg, while the witcher is more action orientated, with no party and a diablo-like hack and slash combat system (albeit with more depth). They are both great games with great stories, but the witcher is an action rpg while dragon age 2 is basically a pure rpg.

I think Rubbish is actually two people--in another thread the "English fluent" version of Rubbish Hero mentioned his brother, and I believe they both live in Japan.

I suspect they share an account here.

They really shouldn't let people share accounts though...

I like Rubbish Hero. (from a distance.) His posts are interesting, a lot of times deluded, neurotic-sounding and obsessive (on subjects concerning LOTR), but still interesting. I just wish he would drop the "bad grammar on purpose" schtick. Its getting annoying.

Nahh, it was a book before the game came out. It's quite original, especialy with the racist tension there is between humans and non humans.

But was the book influenced by the Lord of the RIngs?
