Tsk, he isn't trolling.  Or if he is, then he's acidentally made a valid comparison.  Some of the people in the thread are saying they want to be able to do a cetain thing, and The Witcher a game that lets them do it.  Which, in a way, is a case study in different cultures?  Maybe?  Geralt's adventures were written in by a Pol.  Not that, I'm assuming anything about Poland.  But it's farily well known that Europeans as a whole have a more relaxed attitude towards sex than the people of the USA and Canada.

Yes, sex cards are Poland's version of Pokemon.

They're just that open. It was silly and immature--trying to pass it off as being some how more "relaxed" is an excuse.

I think we shouldn't automatically see anything non-monogamous as wrong or stuff of pornographic phantasies.

There is a difference between a harem-esque thing like having multiple lovers (or wife and mistress and such) and Polyamory. The latter isn't so much about two people "sharing" the one they love while feeling little for each other, but about three or more people who each have deep affection for another and consensually enter a romantic relationship (in theory). I think that can work as good or as bad as a strictly monogamous relationship depending on who is involved, what characters and values these people have and how much they are willing to compromise certain aspects.

It is a thing that "could" be explored in DA2 or other games. At least it would be an interesting and rarely seen dynamic. Maybe not in the party but in NPCs?
I know people take offense at the smallest things in companions, so a too divergent opinion on relationships would probably result in much hate.

edit: typos :P

That's one of the reasons I never bought into any of the romances. They weren't romances, just flings Geralt indulged in. The sex cards (which made me wish the in game models looked more like the ladies in the pics. They didn't look like clones) actually made me feel dirty. Like Geralt was the kind of guy who kept his 'conquest's' panties without them knowing. :?

**** statistics. I've talked to plenty of people .POLYGAMY and POLYAMORY have plenty of supporters. You only hear about monogamy and the like all the time because Puritan/Christian values provail in mainstream media.

As for the topic, I'd love to have threesomes :D

The way to demonstrate you aren't a troll isn't to say **** statistics. They are actually valued by non trolls as a relatively objective way to work out who's position is backed by the weight of evidence.

Just a heads up.

if somebody says something you are against, you cannot assume he is a troll, you are just being bigoted.

Many cultures approve of polygamy because for them, it helps to "strengthen" the family blood line. Here in Canada, persian, some indian, some european communities practice polygamy. In America, I know of people living in the south that practice polgamy due to their physically demanding lifestyle (farming, fishing etc)

Would you love to have a threesome with your wife and another guy? How about three other guys? Five?

Your fantasy harem can stay in your imagination. Realistically, while some men and women like the idea of multiple partners for themselves, they would prefer to be the only man or woman each of their partners sleep with.

The only fair compromise is monogamy. Polygamy is unfair and ugly.

I don't know as much about "Polyamory", and perhaps adults choose that lifestyle and enjoy it, but I'd like to say the same principles may apply.

He's acted like a prat so far and hasn't backed up a single thing he's said.

And mind you I've nothing against polyamory or multiple partners. (in theory anyway. certain practices like wedding young girls to middle aged men seem to have some built in layer of abuse to them. And by young I mean pre teen and lower teens.) and think they're perfectly valid lifestyles (provided everyone involved is doing this because they honestly want it and aren't being coerced.)

And no we don't have families practicing any safe kind of polygamy in the south. We have a group of every isolationist people who take advantage of very young girls (think 12-14) and brainwash, intimidate and coerce they're own members never to speak out or seek to improve their lot.

Won't comment on the Indians as I don't know squat about them.

Amazing. There's an idea right there. If I married three women, I could of raked up a football team of my own in less than twenty years.

You're missing my point. Like you said, most men want to sleep with two women at once, but don't want to sleep with a man alongside their woman.

Some women would like to sleep with two men at once, but don't want their man to sleep with another woman, with or without their joining in.

Do you see the conflict, here?

It would be unfair to your wife to participate in Polygamy because of this. The only fair way is Monogamy. Get it, now?

i don't see anything wrong with polygamy if the involved parties are in favor of it.

as long as it doesn't involve hurting others, let people live out their lives the way they want to

Not necesarily. You can have a polygamist relationship where everyone is comfortable with it and no one is being abused or taken advantage of. Admittedly we don't see that in a great deal many cases but that does not mean it can't happen or wouldn't work. Just that the people who've been doing it so far seem to be motivated by a sense of entitlement and general disregard for the feelings of their significant others.
